Day Eleven~ Not my kind of church

December 12, 2010 By Jodi

Perhaps you’ve heard about the “church” which protests at soldiers funerals and attempted to protest at Elizabeth Edwards funeral today.

I’m certain that Satan has a special section in HELL set aside just for them; because I’m SURE that the GOD I was taught about who preaches love of our fellow-man, turn the other cheek, and forgiveness would never reward such behavior in Heaven.

In the United States we have a right to practice our religious beliefs regardless of what they are, but the venom and filth that spews from this “church” does not bring people together, instead all it does is incite and inflame people, which is not something that the REAL GOD would encourage or reward.

We also have a right to peaceful protest, but again it’s not peaceful when you are inciting others to violence. The disrespect shown to the very soldiers that put their lives on the line each and every day protecting and defending your right to stand at their funeral and spew vile and filth.  Thankfully we have people and organizations that will step up and find a way to shield mourners at these funerals from the evil and hatred which seem to be all that you know.

I feel sorry for you,  sorry that you are being taught hate and intolerance, and that you have no forgiveness or love for your fellow-man in your heart. Luckily for you being ignorant is not a crime in the United States,  but if it were, I’m certain the very people who you are protesting would be standing up to defend you.

Day Ten – Writer's Block

December 11, 2010 By Jodi

The first couple of blogs I wrote seemed to flow pretty easily.  The problem I am encountering is the thoughts that flow so freely and effortlessly in my head, don’t come out the same way when I am typing.

In my head I have strong, coherent, sensible thoughts, but when I try to express them in the written form I can’t quite seem to make them sound the same.  It seems to work just fine when I am writing them down with pen and paper, but when I try to type them up; I find myself struggling.  Perhaps I just have no confidence in my written word, perhaps I am intimidated by the millions of bloggers out there that actually have followers, perhaps I just don’t know how all this blogging stuff works.

But the task that I set for myself is to write each and every day, and I am going to do it!  Maybe, just maybe I can make this work.

Day Nine – Democrats holding out

December 10, 2010 By Jodi

I just want to be really sure I understand this, Republicans refused to vote on the tax cuts because they wanted to ensure that the wealthy Americans (the ones who choose steak or lobster or shall we go to Aspen or the Bahamas for the Christmas holidays) keep their Bush-era tax breaks.  President Obama conceded to the strong-arm tactics of the Republicans and now the Democrats are refusing to vote for the tax cuts.  What is going on?  Have we reverted to kindergarten here?  You won’t do what I want so I won’t do what you want?

If I had my way congress would vote on one issue at a time, no more of this rolling all kinds of issues into one package.  If you have an issue let’s get it on the agenda, have some discussion about it and then vote.  If it passes great, if it doesn’t pass then put it back in the pot and work on presenting or changing it for another time.  No more holding each other’s issues hostage in order to get your agenda passed.

Congress needs to remember who they are working for, and what their real obligations are.  Instead of just thinking of themselves and their wealthy friends.
