Delilah Needs A Pillow…Day Two Hundred, Forty

July 28, 2011 By Jodi

On Tuesday evening Chet said, “Delilah needs a pillow.”

Chet based this idea on the fact that every morning when he gets up, Delilah curls up against his pillow.

If for some strange reason, I get out of bed before Chet, Delilah steals my spot.

So Delilah needs a pillow.

Luckily for Delilah I purchased travel pillows for Delilah, Sampson and I when we went to North Carolina two years ago.  (Hey what else can we do in the car when Chet is driving for 12 hours?)

I went to the closet and pulled out the pillow and placed it on the end of the bed where Delilah sleeps.  She was hesitant at first, but I convinced her to put her head down on the pillow.  She stayed on it for about an hour and then she got up and curled up at the bottom of the bed.

Last night she was convinced again to lie down on her pillow.

I was startled awake at 2:00 am with a sharp bark from Delilah.  After I got up and walked towards the door, I realized Delilah wasn’t coming.  She was standing on the floor staring at the pillow on her spot on the bed.

I threw the pillow on the floor and went back to bed.

Delilah did too.

Delilah doesn’t need a pillow.

What's Wrong With This Picture?….Day Two Hundred, Thirty Nine

July 27, 2011 By Jodi

I was going to take advantage of Wordless Wednesday and stick a photo in here, but I made a commitment to write every day for one year and I’m not really doing that if I just post a photo, so here goes.

Can you look at this picture and tell me what is wrong with it?

If you said Delilah should NOT be standing, you would be absolutely right!

Here is my problem with this girl, she sits when you tell her to, but she refuses to stay sitting.  I walked over to her no less than five times and re-sat her.

“Sit.” I give her a treat.

“Stay.”

I walk over to the counter and she gets up and walks into the kitchen.  I repeat the process.  So does she.

Now I walk over and re-sit her and give Sampson the treat and tell him “Good Boy.”

“Delilah sit.”  She sits.

I walk away.  So does she.

I did this five times.  I looked her square in her face and raised my voice, “SIT.”  She got up.

I finally sat her and said, “I swear to God, if you move one more time; I will feed Sampson and you will not get your food.”

She sat.   The whole time.

Are you kidding me?  It’s like she knows EXACTLY what I am saying!

Rugs, Bugs and Sunsets….Day Two Hundred, Thirty Eight

July 26, 2011 By Jodi

I keep a couple of rugs laid out in the back of the car.  It gives the dogs something to lay on, prevents them from slipping and helps reduce the wear and tear on the car.

I washed the rugs yesterday because I was taking a couple of co-workers to the airport today.  So my car got what I like to refer to as a “Quick douche.”  You may also refer to it as “A Lick and a Promise.”  I basically wiped as much as I could down and got up as much of the dirt as I could with a damp rag.

As luck would have it, the rains came again today, just before I left work.  We waited for a break in the rain to walk the dogs.  I went out to the car to bring the rugs to Chet only to find wet paw prints all over the back of the car.  It seems someone was anxious for a walk.

Even with the rain, I knew those bugs would be all over me.  I decided to try out my bug cap, which was recommended by our friends at 2BrownDawgs and Gone For a Walk.  I’m sure it’s going to make fellow hikers look at me strangely, but if it keeps those bugs away, I”m all for it.

By the end of our walk, the rain had washed away the humidity and left a beautiful blue sky, with some white fluffy clouds.

Some parts of the state are still under thunderstorm watch, but I think we are done.  At least if the sunset is any indicator.
