Let’s Pretend

February 14, 2013 By Jodi

Today we once again join our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs for This ‘N That Thursday.  Some days there’s a little of this or a little of that, but not enough for a full post.

Thank you 2 Brown Dawgs!

Let’s Pretend

Let’s pretend that I’m like Jen at My Brown Newfies and that I actually think in advance to buy props and stage a Valentine’s day photo shoot.

Let’s pretend that once I’ve taken the photo, I can actually use a graphic image program to tweak that photo just a tiny bit.

Are you getting this?

Good!

Let’s pretend that this is a really awesome photo showing my dogs lying together in the shape of a heart.

Go ahead and laugh, I'm a writer not a graphic artist.

Go ahead and laugh, I’m a writer not a graphic artist.

Are you done laughing?

Okay, then I promise I’ll do better next year.

Unless I don’t.

Snow challenges

Sampson and Delilah have a little yard routine they do when they hear or sense someone or something outside.  Our yard is pretty large and normally they run out the door, down the deck stairs and up along the fence line. I call this synchronized running and if they ever offer it in the dog Olympics, I’m entering my two.  (One day I hope to capture it on video, because it really is amazing.)

Then they station themselves at some point along the fence and observe or bark at whatever they please.

And there are other days when they burst out the door and one runs the fence line, while the other one runs up the stairs.  I guess this is their Hawaii Five-0 “you go this way, I’ll go that way” approach.

Our back yard is mostly hill.  Up hill as you may or may not be able to see from the photo.  The dogs can get back there either by running the fence line or by the stairs in the back.

After Charmo hit, there was no place for the dogs to potty, so Hubby used the snow blower and made a path around the house and a small area off the deck, but he didn’t blow along the fence line.

IMG_4051 While the snow is beginning to melt, there is still a lot of it!

IMG_4052 These are the stairs up back, I haven’t had a chance to shovel them yet.

So the other morning when Sampson got his dander up and charged out the door I said, “Where you gonna go?”  Then I laughed as I watched him run from one side of the house to the other via the snow blown path.

This morning however, I noticed Delilah tentatively (VBP) picking her way down the fence line.  Apparently the snow has melted enough for her to attempt the backyard.

Hold tight, I’m still working on that video. 🙂

Many thanks from our friends at the 2 Brown Dawgs blog for This ‘N That Thursday.

Do you plan photo shoots for your dogs? What kind of programs do you use to watermark or tweak your photos?

Frosty Blog Paws

February 12, 2013 By Jodi

Friday just before we got 3 feet of snow, we received a package from our friend Jen at My Brown Newfies.

Frosty Paw Puppy

Inside the priority mail box was two prize packages consisting of 2 coupons for free Frosty Paws dessert treats and a cute little stuffed puppy.

One package was for us to keep and one was to do what we pleased with. Truthfully I could have kept both, but why be greedy?

Especially when I want something from you.

BlogPaws Bound

In May of this year a whole host of awesome Pet Bloggers will be meeting in Tyson Corners, Virginia for the social media event of the year. BlogPaws!

In a moment of folly, I pitched a proposal to BlogPaws for a beginning blogging session titled, “I’ve started a blog, now what?”

Well put your money where your mouth is Jodi Stone, because BlogPaws accepted my proposal!

Yes, yours truly will be hosting a session at this year’s BlogPaws.

As most of you know (mostly because I whine incessantly about it) blogging is a learning experience. And while sometimes it takes me a while to learn things (thank you to all of you who answer those desperate questions of mine) there are so many things I wish I’d known about sooner, like two years ago sooner when I first started this blog.

That is what my session will be about. All the things that took me two years to learn about starting and growing a blog.

I have a list of subjects I wish I’d known about when I first started blogging and I figured if I had a list, you must have one too!

So see, here’s where the give away comes in.

I’d like your thoughts about what you wish YOU’D known about when you first started blogging. And it wouldn’t be fair to pick your brain and not give you something in return, right?

SO Share it with me in the comments and one lucky winner will receive a prize pack with two coupons for a free Frosty Paws dessert for your dog, along with a Frosty Paws dog.

Not for dogs (Note the stuffed toy is NOT FOR DOGS but for human use only.)

Also, I’m only authorized to ship in the US as Frosty Paws isn’t available in other areas.

BUT that doesn’t mean I don’t want my international friends to comment, SO here’s what I’ll do. Give me your comments, one and all and if the entry that wins is outside of the U.S. I will send you something entirely different and pick another entry for the Frosty Paws Prize package.

Don’t write a blog?  That’s okay too, I still want your input.  Tell me what kinds of topics you want to read about on this blog, or something I’ve written that you like.

No rush, I’ll draw the winning name next Wednesday, so if you can’t think of something right away, you still have time.

This is the Tasty Tuesday Blog Hop, hosted by Sugar the Golden Retriever and Kol’s Notes.
