We were the lucky recipients of not one, but two contests this past week!  On Monday the Kong treats we won from Life With Desmond came.

These treats came at the perfect time because we were getting a bit low. 🙂  Thanks Lauren, Desmond and Kong, the treats are a big hit!

We’re also super excited because we won a Frosty Paws backpack package from our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs blog and it came yesterday!

Hubby and I were both impressed at the quality of this backpack, besides the large insulated main pouch, there are a couple of other pockets with zippers to stash non-food related items, such as bug repellent. It also comes at the perfect time as we will be heading for an adventurous vacation later on this month.

It’s Not Just the Rain

We had one of the wettest June’s on record, I think it ranked in the top five with whoever it is that keeps those records.  It seems like we get rain at least once a day.

How much rain have we had?

We’ve had so much rain that some of our paths still have water on them.

We’ve had so much rain our little field suddenly sprouted a multitude of mushroom villages, seemingly overnight.

There are hundreds of these little settlements throughout the field.

We’ve had so much rain, leaves pushed into piles by the force of rushing water, are still damp, making walking treacherous at times.

And when it’s not the rain, it’s the humidity.

How humid is it?

Towels used to dry the dogs that normally dry overnight on the screen porch, are still damp 24 hours later.

Walking the dogs for even half an hour results in rivulets of sweat streaming off my body.

You feel like you need a shower after your shower.

I guess it could be worse, I hear they’re getting scorched in the western part of the country.

How’s the weather in your neck of the woods?  Any tips for helping us cope?

Tuesday’s Tails – Regally Yours

What I love best about the Tuesday’s Tails blog hop is the opportunity to help an animal in shelter or rescue find a home where they can live out their days surrounded by love.

What I don’t like is perusing Petfinder looking for a dog to showcase.  It just breaks my heart to see so many pets that are homeless. And sometimes I just get angry when I read their stories and it’s also when I pull on my judgy pants.  And I can’t help it.

Take Regal for example, his owner’s relocated and couldn’t take him with them.

This to me is unfathomable, I would never move somewhere where my pets could not go with me. I would sleep in a tent if I had to.  There I said it and may I just say, I hate sleeping in tents.

The petfinder page didn’t offer a lot of information about Regal, just that he is house-trained, knows some commands and of course would love a home of his own.

Regal is currently at the Humane Society in Walden, NY.

Normally I don’t ask people to share my posts.  I assume (perhaps unwisely on my part) that if you think I’ve got something particularly good to say that you will share it.  But I bend that rule on this blog hop.  My goal is to help animals find their forever homes and that means I will do what is necessary to accomplish this.  So please, please share.
