Strange Doin’s

November 25, 2013 By Jodi

Once daylight savings ends, most of our daily walks take place on my lunch hour.  I’m lucky enough to work close enough so I can zip home at lunch and still manage to get a 30 minute walk in.  On the days I can’t zip home, we are stuck walking around the block at night.  Which really stinks. 🙁

Friday as we approached the field I could see some people standing around something white.  At first I thought it was a casket.

Weird right?

Having taken a video class myself in college, I suspected it might be some type of photo shoot or school project.  Sampson of course was so excited that there were people, so I thought it might be better to approach the people after the dogs had burned off some energy.  I leashed him up and headed off in a different direction.

Besides do you really want to dart up to somebody standing by a casket in the middle of the a field?

I didn’t either.

We walked for a bit, then came at the field from a different direction, by this time more young people had joined the party.  I could see as we got closer  what I had originally thought was a casket, was in fact a table.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Made approaching the kids a little more comfortable I can assure you.

By now I could tell they were filming something as the majority of them were in costume.  Oh and there was the little matter of the person with the video camera giving out directions.  A young man standing near the table, noticed my barking, rooing, lunging dog so he approached to pet him and he was joined by a young lady, and they confirmed it was indeed a video project for school.

As we made to leave I took a couple of discreet photos (which is why you really can’t see much.)  I didn’t want the kids to get big heads thinking the Paparazzi was already stalking them.

Fotorpeeps You can see there are bunch of them.  I added the arrow, because I know how small they are.

When we got back to the car I looked in the mirror and realized I probably scared the shit out of those kids.

A while back on Facebook there was some fad going around where you changed your profile picture to the cartoon character that you closely resembled.  Since my hair is red and I like to wear it really short and spiky I change my picture to

Where Have You Been?

November 24, 2013 By Jodi

One of the big reasons I started this blog was for all the crazy, funny things my dogs do that bring a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.

Sometimes it’s not easy to write a full blog post about it and sometimes I forget to share.

Some posts will be You Make Me Laugh and others will be You Make Me Smile, but they will all be the silly, sweet, funny things Sampson and Delilah do that help make crazy days just a little bit easier.

Sampson, when you wait up for the Mama to come home….

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

you make me smile and feel oh so loved.

Friday night I had the pleasure of babysitting my grandchildren, Hubby had to work yesterday so he was in bed by the time I got home.

Delilah came sleepily out of the bedroom to greet me, but not Sampson.  I thought to myself, nice he doesn’t want to give up his spot on the bed.  Then I went into the living room.

There he was curled up on the couch waiting for me.  Hubby said he refused to go to bed without me.

God I love this dog!

Do your pets wait up for you when you’re out late?   Feel free to sound off in the comments.

Thank God it’s Follow-Up Friday!

November 22, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that wraps up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Joining me for this prestigious (I can call it that, right?) event is my friend, soon to be published author, and fellow blogger, Donna from Donna and the Dogs.

Thank you for joining me this week Donna!!  If you don’t know Donna and her three dogs, Toby, Leah and Meadow, well what are you waiting for?  I learn so much from this lady.  Not to mention her handsome Toby looks eerily like Sampson.

Let Sleeping Dogs…

Dawn asked, “Does Sampson really get under the covers like that?”

He will for a few minutes, but typically no.  He loves to lay in the sun or in front of the fire, but he does not like to be under the blankets.  Although he does humor me sometimes.

My Ever Growing List

First, thank you all for not calling me that crazy dog lady.  I truly believe in being proactive rather than reactive, so if something seems strange to me I get it checked.

2 Brown Dawgs asked, “Are you going to have his hips checked too?”

I did mention my concerns to the vet and she will examine him before the cleaning, I may call her the week before and discuss all our options.  My thought process is while he’s out, why not go for the whole enchilada?

Roxy the Traveling Dog said, “Why are we as women so awesome at guilt?”

I wish I knew the answer to that!  My life would be so less stressful without the guilt.

Pamela said, “I hope the secret procedure is something fun–like perhaps a piercing? Or a tough doggy tattoo?”

You caught us Pamela.  He wanted a Prince Albert but I talked him out of it; he’s agreed to settle for a tattoo of “MOM” on his upper front leg. 😉

Ranger asked, “When do you get your pictures of you hip?”

His dental cleaning is December 10th.

If You Love Pets, You MUST Follow a Pet Blogger

Jan K said, “It never occurred to me though that I could enter for things to give as gifts or to give to shelters.”

It never dawned on me until I won food I knew I couldn’t use, then it was like a light bulb went off in my head. LOL

2 Brown Dawgs said, “If I win something, even if I keep it myself, I try to make a donation to our local shelter. I figure its some treats or food I don’t have to by myself, so why not make a donation?”

That is totally awesome!!  I think I’m going to start doing that myself, as most shelters/rescues will tell you, every little bit helps!

Jessica said, “When I run a contest I usually remind readers that even if they don’t want the product, they can enter and donate their winnings to a shelter.”

That is a wonderful idea!!  If I ever get to the point of giveaways, I’m going to remind people of that myself!

Which Way Do We Go?

Emma said, “Mom is a multidog walker, has been walking two for many years. We have our own command “obstacle”.”

Hey Emma, I say whatever works for you!!  Typically I say something like “ACK” or “NO” and apply a tiny bit of pressure on the leash of the dog who is heading the ‘wrong’ way, but this time I decided to ride it out.  But I might just try teaching, “obstacle.”

Matchmaker, Matchmaker

Pamela said, “Thanks so much for sharing about the Pet Blogger’s Gift Exchange. I’m so glad you’ve forgiven me for randomly pairing you with a cat blogger. :)

I’d love to see more cat bloggers join the fun. After all, if dog bloggers and cat bloggers an get along, there’s hope for peace in the Middle East. :)”

There is nothing to forgive.  I’m so glad that I was paired with Kristin, she’s totally amazing AND Pamela, if ANYONE can broker a peace in the Middle East, my money is on you.

So based upon your encouragement I played with the picture in both PicMonkey and Fotor, here’s what I came up with.
