Did You Hear That?

December 2, 2018 By Jodi

Delilah is a dog that likes to walk when she’s doing her business. That’s how she got the nickname Delilah Shitwalker. I don’t know how she does this, I mean, I’ve done walking squats and there’s nothing pleasant about it.

This only becomes problematic at certain times of year. Times like when it’s dark when we walk or when there are a lot of leaves on the ground.

Times like now.

Usually I’m pretty good at keeping track of where she’s walking, but the past two weeks, I’ve lost track of two turds.

I know.

The good news is, the town hasn’t picked up leaves yet, and they will use a big vacuum. Odds are, the vacuum will just suck it up and no-one will be the wiser.

Last night we walked while it was still light out, and I was able to keep track of where she was going. Of course it helped that she ended up in the street and dropped her last one there.

Honestly, how many dogs do you know that shit in the street?

Anyhow, I was watching her like a cat watches a mouse, when suddenly a dog barked on the next street over.

Did you hear that?

I laughed when she stayed in her squat position, but stopped what she was doing to look in the direction of the dog bark.

You make me laugh (or smile.) The sweet, loving, funny things dogs do that make us laugh or smile.

What did your pet do that made you laugh or smile this week?

Lol. Sometimes Merlin growls when he squats for a pee.

We do our business on the street a lot in the winter. It seems to make Mom happy because she says it is easier to pick up. Did you ever think about sled dogs? They all poop while running. I only know this because Mom has a friend with a husky who always pooped on the run without stopping. We always have to stop and take things seriously before dropping a load. Madison

Our dog-in-law grew up in a second story town house with a balcony and now will only do her business on concrete. My dogs, who always seek out the lushest grass, think it is gross to pee and shit on concrete.

Oh, how I love your D-Dog!! And your smile/laugh Sunday posts! While Ducky was trying to poop in the lower part of the far back end of the yard this morning, our neighbor behind us was walking back and forth along his side of the fence, making Ducky crazy. Poor dog finally had no choice but to stop; but I couldn’t help laughing at her.

What does she do with snow? Our dogs have always thought that snow evened everything out and they could pee and poop anywhere where there was snow….deck, patio…whatever! If there’s snow…we go….LOL.

LOL! I’ve got one – Lightning – who does his business as he walks. Utterly amazing. He’s also the slow walker when we go on walks, so I’m constantly running behind him (literally – BEHIND him) picking up the turd or 3 or 4 that he’s dropped over the last 20 feet. Dogs…..I wouldn’t smile without them.

Sam will drop a load, but only if a car is coming. Usually he waits until he can get in front of someone’s house and poop on the sidewalk going up to their front door. What the heck?! #ohthatdog
