The Chocolate is Banana For Bananas

December 24, 2017 By Jodi

If you asked Delilah what her favorite treat in the world was, she’d tell you (well….if she could talk she’d tell you) it was bananas.

A few years back I discovered dehydrated banana chips from Trader Joe’s. Both dogs love these treats, and I use the for many things. NOT walking, God not walking, they’re much too sticky for that. BUT, we do use them when the dogs sit nicely while we’re working in the kitchen, while they’re waiting for us to finish our dinner, or after Delilah gets her eye drops. Hubby even leaves her a few banana chips for her to discover when we come back from our morning walk.

If I had to categorize banana chips, I’d say they are a VERY high value treat in our house.

As it happened, Delilah had a vet appointment yesterday morning (just a lipoma, thank God!), but as luck would have it, I had run out of regular treats, so Hubby said, “Grab the banana chips.”

After she’d had the lump aspirated, and while we were waiting to hear that it was in fact, a fatty tumor, I naturally gave her some banana chips, then I set them in the window.

Look at that focus.

Of course I smiled. Because really, look at that face and tell me it doesn’t make you smile.

You make me smile (or laugh), the sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do that bring a smile to my face, or a laugh to my lips.

What did your pet do this week that made you smile?

We eat bananas, but Katie loved them like Delilah does. Mom would slice them up and dehydrate them in the oven. It only takes a short time to do and is so simple. Enjoy, and glad the lump was just nothing and not coal or something even worse! I get them all the time, so we are used to them popping and making a mess in my furs. Merry Christmas.

I’ve never seen any of my dogs look so happy when at the vet’s office (so glad all was OK)! Bananas are a favorite of Luke’s as well (I’ve never done the chips though, clearly I need to). My hubby gets up very early for work now, so Luke gets up with him, goes outside to pee, and then comes back to bed (I feed them when I get up later). You’d think he’s sound asleep, but when my hubby has his daily banana, Luke pops out of bed and runs to the kitchen!! Luke apparently can hear a banana being peeled – LOL.

LOL – Harlow thinks all the folks at the vet clinic gather for her. She makes me laugh so many times during the day. I’d be lost without her.

Good Girl, D. If bananas make you brave, then bananas it is! Mom smiles at me when I do my Extreme Head Tilt. I do it when she says the word banana, but then I spit the banana out on the rug. Sometimes smiles donโ€™t last long…!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake
