Thwarted Again!

April 23, 2017 By Jodi

Sometimes…when you have dogs, you have the greatest of intentions to do something nice for them.

But sometimes, dogs have their own ideas of what they like.

Spring has finally arrived in the northeast, and while we’ve been having a lot of rain…(April showers and all), so we are treasuring those sunny days.

Last week, I ran out to do some errands, and Hubby thought Sampson might like to spend a little time outside in the sun. He grabbed a couple of throw rugs and laid them out on the deck.

You can see them in the photo, right there to the left of Sampson, who apparently felt the leaves would be a nicer place to snooze.

And Hubby and I, laughed and laughed.

Leave this for that? He’s out of his mind!

When has your dog thwarted one of your good intentions?

After Callie’s first CCL surgery, I went online and bought a pad for her to lay down on out in the yard so she could spend the time with Shadow and me comfortably. She preferred the grass, with Shadow right next to her. I didn’t give up; but even after her second surgery, she would have nothing to do with it except in the house.

Mom often spends money on the finest things only to find us ignoring them and using old stuff or things like the hard floor or leaves.

Torrey does that all the time. We will put stuff out so she can not lay in the dirt, and where do you think she goes. Yep, lays in the dirt.

LOL…they definitely have minds of their own, and their own ideas of what they like! I always put dishes of water out on the patio and deck in the summer, and I can’t tell you how many times they’d walk right past it and insist on going in the house to get a drink of water!

A lot of expensive toys go ignored while they find their own toys.

10 minutes ago, I found Abby lying in the sun, on a freshly dug up flower bed right on the soil. Good thing I planned to take her for a bath today.

Ha Ha! That Sampson is just a natural kinda dude.

It’s a good thing no one got around to sweeping the leaves off the deck or Sampson would be terribly disappointed. 🙂

That’s so cute! The leaves must have some lovely smells!

Haha – I have the opposite problem of Jan – I put water inside AND outside, and she walks right past the inside water and wants to go out, like it tastes better out there or something.

Oh geez, this first comment *did* post – even though I got an error message. Now I look like a crazy person. (Story of my life…) 🙂

(Tried to comment once already and it wouldn’t let me – how you don’t get this twice… Now, what the heck did I say??

Haha. So cute. Assuming the lives have lots of good smells!

So funny – I’ve the opposite problem of Jan. I put water inside and out, and she’ll walk right past the inside water (which is usually fresher – since it’s in the kitchen and I walk past it all the time, so am always picking up the bowl and washing it and refreshing it), and insist on going out to drink the outside water. Which might not be all that fresh!

It’s so funny when we try to make them more comfy and they’re all like ‘nah, I’ve got this’ lol.
