When All Else Fails…Bribe the Dog

April 5, 2017 By Jodi

zzzzzzzzzzzz

Does anyone else have trouble getting their dog off the couch to go out to pee?

He’s always ready for his morning and afternoon walks, (and he pees during those), but trying to get him off the couch to go before bedtime, well let’s just say….I usually have to bribe him.

How do you get your dogs out to pee?

We are usually out playing until 8 or so and after that we don’t need to go out again. Most of the time we come in, hang out and go to bed on our own as we are tired out. The trouble is getting us up in the morning to go out because Mom likes to get up so early. Does the poor pup really need to go out again? Even Katie at her age didn’t go out again after about 8pm.

I usually take my dogs out once more for the night around 9:00 pm but then, though they don’t wake me to go out during the night, I usually have to get up at least once during the night myself so I usually take them out too so they don’t wake me up too early in the morning to go out. The 7 month old usually is my 7:50 alarm as it is.

We have cats occasionally visiting the yard. “Let’s go chase cats” is a magic phrase any time of day or night.

I have to be kind of tricky. I look out the window and pretend I see something out there. That instantly gets their attention and they both go barreling outside barking!

About the only time my girls don’t want to go out is when it’s raining. And that’s fine with me cuz I don’t want to go out in the rain either. Especially if we’re having a thunderstorm.

The dogs have bribe me to go out! No matter when I let Rye out for the last time as soon as I get snuggled up in bed, she goes and sits by the bedroom door and cries. I try to ignore it, but then she starts sniffing around and threatening to find a spot in the house and I get up, turn off the alarm, and let her back out.

Luckily my two Velcro dogs stink pretty much to me especially if I act like I’m going outside. But I know what you mean about that last pee outing…I really have to work hard to get them to wanna follow me. At night. In. the. rain. or. snow. πŸ˜‡
