You Make Me Laugh – February 12, 2017

February 12, 2017 By Jodi

You make me laugh, (or smile). The sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do on a daily basis, that brings a smile to my face, or a laugh to my lips.

Delilah, the way you get so ticked off when you have to wear boots…

You make me laugh.

Winter decided to hit February HARD in the northeast. Last Monday or Tuesday, we had freezing rain, then Thursday we got 18 inches of snow. Friday night we got a couple more inches, we’re expecting some more today and possibly again on Wednesday.

Of course, with the wintery weather, comes the chemicals they spread on the road to help melt the snow. Whatever it is they use, it really bothers the dogs on their back feet.

Sampson has gotten use to wearing the boots, and they don’t seem to bother him.

But Delilah is another story.

When you pull out her boots, she will hide in her bed, run away from you, or try and climb into her Daddy’s lap. Most days, I’ll avoid them, but after wiping her back foot three times on Thursday’s morning walk, I drew the line, and insisted she wear them.

This does not sit well with her. When you first put them on, she gets very dramatic and lifts her feet high in the air as she waddles about the house. Then she’ll walk normally, but she refuses to potty for about the first 10 minutes. Eventually, she adjusts and goes about our walk and her business.

But she makes it very clear, she will wear them, but she won’t like them.

If I don't look, they can't see I'm wearing these ridiculous things on my feet.

If I don’t look, they can’t see I’m wearing these ridiculous things on my feet.

Sampson, Delilah and myself, want to send a BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY, to their Auntie, and my sister, Sheena.
Happy Birthday Honey, we love you more. 😀

Silly girl! We don’t mind wearing our boots. Just one or two steps and we are on our way. Putting them on we do resist a bit, but not too bad. Happy birthday to your Auntie!

Why is it when you tell them it’s for their own good, they don’t care? LOL. Cricket is very dramatic about having hers put on as well, I have to chase her around and then hold her down….but once they are on she’s totally fine. Then when I go to take them off, she’s just as dramatic as well! With her, it’s just making her stay still for anything that she doesn’t like.
I’m just glad we don’t have to walk on salty roads much, because there is no way in you-know-what that I could ever get boots on Luke.

Hailey won’t keep her boots on. It gets really cold here some days (which is a bigger issue than the snow as they use sand and not salt where we live), and she has such sensitive feet sigh! I am glad Delilah will sort of tolerate them!

The boots are so cute, they are what sled dogs wear

The dog boots are a tough nut to crack, D. But so is begging Mom to carry me halfway through our walk. I’m pretty sure the carrying thing won’t work any better on your end…. Winter won’t last forever… so, there’s that.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

Sam shares his empathy with D-Dog. Snow boots are the pits even if us moms are trying to save tender paws. Congratulations on achieving a spot on PetNitro’s Best Pet Bloggers to follow for 2017. Definitely a well deserved recognition and if memory serves me correctly you were on last year’s list too? Way to go, Jodi!

Sampson doesn’t mind the boots, but man, when Delilah sees them, off she runs. Thankfully, we’ve had some warmer weather, so she gets a pass.

Thanks for the congrats….did I know about that? LOL

Boots make me laugh, too! We haven’t had a bad enough winter to need them, so I don’t know how Rye will react to them yet–I don’t anticipate it going smoothly, though.

We can only imagine those boots would be hard to get used to, Delilah. Don’t worry … Spring is coming soon! 🙂

Happy birthday to your sister. We hope she had a great day!
