You Make Me Smile – January 15, 2017

January 15, 2017 By Jodi

You make me smile, (or laugh.) The sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do, that bring a smile to my face, or a laugh to my lips.

Delilah, when you look to me for guidance on our walks, and someone in the neighborhood observes you, and says what a good dog you are…

Good Delilah

You make me smile.

It happened yesterday. A few months back, I discovered that a neighbor down the street, is a man I worked with over 10 years ago.

We passed his house yesterday morning, and he was on his way out to pick up his paper.  We exchanged good mornings, and when we did so, Delilah made to cross the street to say hello. I’m careful about letting the dogs approach folks, unless someone specifically asks. So, I redirected her, and my ex-co-worker asked how old she is. I told him she just turned 11, and then he commented on what a good dog she was, and how beautiful her coat was.

Considering some of the stories, (some right here on this blog) about Delilah. I couldn’t help but look down at her and grin.

I may have given her a cookie…or two….or three. And then I floated home.

We dogs are real good at acting when we want to be. A lot of people are fooled 😉 Still, it’s nice to get a great compliment!

All the work – and stories – has been worth it, every second of it! We love D-Dog stories. They give me hope that Ducky will be there one day. Our challenging pups always put an extra glow around us and an extra pop in our step when they make us proud.

We hope it’s quite a while before Delilah does something to burst your bubble! 🙂

Sometimes the most smile worthy encounters are the ones that surprise us most. Way to go, D-Dog. 😇
