You Make Me Laugh – August 14, 2016

August 14, 2016 By Jodi

You make me laugh (or smile), the sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do that make me laugh or smile on a daily basis.

Sampson, when you push the rug off the “step” you use to get onto the bed…

Golden Lab on Crib Bed

You make me laugh.

Backstory: I have a crib mattress that resides under my bed. When the grandkids outgrew the crib, I threw it out (it was missing some bits and wouldn’t meet current safety standards) and I kept the mattress.

I use the mattress like a trundle bed, so when one of the grandkids sleeps over, I would pull the mattress out, and make it up.

Since Sampson did his partial tear, I haven’t wanted him jumping on the bed. I couldn’t find a step that I really liked, so pulled the mattress out and put a non-slip throw rug on it, so he could use that as a step.

It’s just about perfect.

For him.

It’s nice and wide, long enough and springy. For me, it’s just one more thing I have to worry about tripping over when the bladder calls at 3:00 am.

SO anyhoo, I have this throw rug on it, because the mattress itself is slippery and I don’t need him slipping when he gets on the bed.

A couple of mornings I’ve caught him sleeping on the mattress, but this one particular morning he had pulled the rug off.

He must have been hot.

Crib mattress and a throw rug. That’s a great idea!! I wish I had a set up like that for Shadow!

Maybe it had a wrinkle in it and felt something like the princess and the pea. I love to gather up rugs and blankets into piles to sleep on or move them completely around. At least he likes the mattress.

Dogs know what they like, and they rearrange when they have to! He looks pretty cozy there.

Rearranging things is what a dog does best.

That’s a brilliant ‘hack.’ Well done, Jodi. Stay safe on the 3:00 AM runs. 😉 The sweet boy needs you to keep looking out for him.

That is a great idea. My pups often take the blankets off things as well. So much for protection with one!

They’re so funny like that aren’t they? Laika sleeps on the couch by herself. Every evening before bed I “make it nice” with some pillows on both sides & a blanket nicely placed. And every single morning I wake up to all of the pillows being knocked onto the floor. Why do I keep putting them there you may wonder… Because she falls asleep on them, using them just like humans do. Apparently though at sometime during the night she gets sick of them & pushes em all off. Dogs are weird.
