You Make Me Smile – August 7, 2016

August 7, 2016 By Jodi

You make me smile (or laugh), the sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do on a daily basis, that brings a smile to my face, or a laugh to my lips.

I don’t know about you, but seeing a dog rest their head on something, always makes me smile. Sampson does it all the time.

Golden Lab rests on Laundry basket

Here he is resting his head on the laundry basket.

Delilah has NEVER done this.

Chocolate lab rests head on knee

Until this past week.

I was cutting lettuce and the dogs were hoping I’d drop a piece. When Delilah not only rested her head on something, but rested it ON MY KNEE, I just couldn’t stop smiling.

Is resting their head on something in your dog’s bag of tricks?

Shadow will rest her head on my knee at times when she’s looking for attention. And Ducky will rest her head on her daddy’s stomach when she’s laying between his legs on the recliner. That always makes me smile. Callie used to sleep on the living room floor with her head resting on the dog bed. I used to laugh at her when she did that.

Life is full of places to rest heads, but humans don’t seem to take advantage of it like dogs do.

So sweet. Sofie loves to put her head on feet and the coffee table, Lulu loves your knee when your sitting. Smiles

They both do it if they want something:)

Sam will do that on my knee or thigh, to which I instinctively reach down to pet him. I think he’s actually put 2 and 2 together and figured out if he does it, he’ll get the attention he wants. He does that frequently though he will often rest his head on the ottoman too. Like you, it makes me smile. đŸ™‚

Yes, they all do it because they have trained me to reward them with attention or a treat. I am such a fast learner.

My head is surprisingly heavy considering that my brain is so tiny. So, yes, I need to rest it – on Mom, the arm of the chair, the side of my bed, or anything on the floor at my level.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

That is very sweet. I guess Delilah was supervising…lol.

The current crew doesn’t do it quite as much, but our beagle Kobi had the chin rest down to a T. We could never resist giving him what he wanted when he did that!
