You Make Me Smile – August 16, 2015

August 16, 2015 By Jodi

You make me smile (or laugh), the sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do on a daily basis that brings a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.

Delilah, when I let you off-leash and you run ahead

Chocolate Lab

.

but stop to check in,

.

.

or walk right by my side…

.

.

You make me smile.

I don’t let her off-leash on every walk, but when I do, I call her back frequently and give her lots of treats and praise. I keep it short and end it positively and so far, she’s doing amazing!

It sure puts a smile on my face. What do your pets do that make you smile?

That is great! I do let Sheba off leash some, and do the same thing, calling her back frequently. We always smile when they behave well, don’t we?

We can’t be off leash, but we do go off leash at the dog park. We went the other day and I hung out right around Mom the entire time, but Miss Bailie was like a speed rocket or something. At home her recall is good, but not when she is out and about. Mom had the presence of mind to bring squeaky ball along. When Bailie disappeared, squeaky got squeaked and little Miss Speedy came a running and got a ton of treats, but not the ball. We were shocked as it worked the entire time! Mom is a wreck when Bailie is out of sight, and I cry, so we have to keep her coming back.

I liked the posts of yesteryear when she led you on some hilarious misadventures. Funny for us, not for you.

That’s awesome! I remember you mentioned you used to do this a while ago and you missed walking both dogs off leash. Delilah sounds like she’s doing really well with the recall and treats. Good girl, Delilah! 🙂

As you can see, I’m weeks behind in reading up blogs (awk-sorry!) but how sweet D-dog is scoring points in the trust department. I’m sure whatever is on the stove might be quaking in its pot. [wink]
