You Make Me Smile – May 17, 2015

May 17, 2015 By Jodi

You make me smile (or laugh) the sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do that brings a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.

Delilah, the way you insist on sniffing ANYTHING that seems out of place on our walks…

Chocolate Lab

.

You make me smile.

This was Friday morning. It was an empty Burger King bag along with some napkins right in the middle of the road. She dragged me across the road so she could check it out. (FYI, I picked it up and threw it out.)

Do your pups investigate when they come across something unexpected, or do they continue with what they are doing?

Absolutely, Gus feels it is his dog right and duty to check out anything that is anywhere within eye shot! If, I am not paying close enough attention, he can turn on a dime and goes straight to the item. If it is food related, it makes his day!

Knowing Ducky, she would try to eat it, so it’s probably just as well we live on a road that’s too dangerous to walk on. Callie & Shadow would just keep keepin on.

Skipper will investigate anything he comes across. Quenya naturally likes to sniff things, but knows to check with me first. Victoria is always in her own little lala land 😉

Always glad to hear of a fellow random-trash-picker-upper!

My own dogs would *NOM NOM* it down in an instant!

Burger containers stop me dead in my tracks. They MUST be investigated thoroughly! Ditto cigarette butts, tissues, coffee lids, bird poop, banana peels, and hair ribbons. Yes. I have seen all of these in my neighborhood. Once I found a hair brush! What is wrong with people???

    Love and licks,

Me not so much, but Bailie checks everything out and we have to keep a close eye on her because she often tries to eat stuff.

There might of been a morsel left in there. Mine would do the same thing. Thanks for picking up what some other dumbass couldn’t dispose of properly.

Totally! With Sam’s big honking nose HAS to check out everything. Kleenex seems to be incredibly interesting and once he’s figured out usually will go in the “meh” category and he’ll move on. If it really intrigues him, he has to sniff out all the odor out of it. I have no explanation. 😉

Rita always investigates random items that don’t belong there! Depending on what it is (and how big) she might approach with great trepidation at first. (Poor kid has many fears!) i figure it’s good for her to go check these things out and see that they’re not really scary. Love it when she realizes it’s not a “threat”, just something sniff-worthy!

Yup, any trash is worth investigating, especially if it’s food related. Sheba stuck her head inside an empty DD coffee cup one time, and I had to pull it off her!

My guys check out everything and then have a committee meeting to determine the edibility (is that a word?) before we move on.

They can be quite nosy on walks!

Delilah was probably hoping there were leftovers. Oh look someone left me a snack…rats it is empty.

She just wants to keep you safe and it has absolutely nothing to do with the yummy food smells!
