You Make Me Smile – February 15, 2015

February 15, 2015 By Jodi

You make me smile (or laugh), the sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do on a daily basis, that brings a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.

Sampson, the way you won this lady (who did not want a dog) over…

Dog loves human

You make me smile.

Backstory, we were renting from my mom when we decided to get Sampson.  She totally did not want a dog.  At. All.

I did it anyway.

She was retired and I asked her to give him a break around noon, so he could get out of his crate and potty.

She didn’t want to.

His crate was very large for such a small boy and so I put paper on one end so he wasn’t stuck all day without a place to relieve himself. I said something to her along the lines of “How would you like to go 9 hours a day without being able to pee?”

Well when I got home, guess who was outside with the dog waiting for me?

He’s just such an amazing, loving boy, he wins people over everywhere he goes.

Your turn, did your pup ever win someone over?

Sweet Sampson! Our dog, before Gus, was also a Golden. We have a dear friend that didn’t love dogs. She would tolerate them, but certainly did not want to pet her.
When our friend, Veola, would come over to visit, our baby naturally thought she was the reason for the visit. We have learned that goldens make their needs known and do not take no for an answer, ever. She made Veola feel so special, by staying close and asking to be petted and loved!
They became fast friends and Vee even got a cat that she loved as a result of our sweet girl teaching her the wonder of loving a dog.

Good job, S. We doggies have special powers. I win over people all the time when Mom brings me to the VA Home. Wheelchair people can be slumped over and out of it, and sometimes they look angry. But when they see me, they perk up and call me and put out their hands for me to sniff. Then they pet me and kiss me and start telling stories of dogs that they used to have when they were young. And it turns out they weren’t angry at all! They were just waiting for something to smile about!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

Isn’t it the best when non animal people suddenly love animals. My gramma never wanted any pets, but Mom always wanted animals. Now Gramma even has her own cat, and she loves my sisters and I. Sometimes we think it is the unknown or bad experiences as a child which get people thinking they don’t like pets but if they meet nice ones, they learn the bright side of having furs around.

I love this story. That’s what dogs do, naturally.

Al’s dad was not really a dog lover. Roxy changed all that, he loved her.

When we got our first dog (first for me, my hubby had them before) I was not 100% sold on the idea. I never had dogs growing up, I was always a cat person. Shelby won me over and turned me into a complete and crazy dog lover.

We love how a dog or cat can Totally OPEN a Heart that said it did not want to be opened…

Aw, Sampson, you big lug, how sweet! Sam is a bit of a professional “win ’em over” kind of pooch all the time. In his case, being goofy and always present in the moment, he just can’t help himself.

What a lovely story! Blueberry wins people over without even trying. It’s quite disgusting. The real trick is for THEM to win HER over. She’s selective about who she’ll allow to pet her.

That is a lovely story and Sampson is such a nice boy!
