These Dogs You Guys

July 14, 2014 By Jodi

As you know, last week I laid out my plan to help get Sampson recover from his ACL surgery.  It involves limiting his walks both in terms of distance and speed, adding Glucosamine to his diet, and getting him some acupuncture treatments.  Currently Sampson goes to the Physical Therapist once a week, where he gets cold laser therapy.  Last week the therapist asked how he was doing and I told her I thought he was doing better.

I gage this in a couple of ways.

1) He’s climbing on the couch at least once or twice a day.

I love my couch, I think it's grand, if I could I'd hold it's hand.

2) He seems to be walking better, in fact I have to slow him down quite frequently, as he’s pulling ahead of me on our walks.

3) He’s not licking his paws as much as he was.

When he saw my vet on June 23rd, she took a look at his paws and said, “He’s hurting.”  Check out the photos.

This photo was taken June 26th. While it's hard to see I've pointed out the areas with the lick Granulomas.

As you can see, he’s not licking at his paws as much and the Granulomas are healing up.

4) He wants to run and jump.

5) Did I mention he wants to jump?  Yeah, Saturday I drove up to the park, pulled out the ramp and opened the hatch.  As I’m opening the door I’m saying, “Wait.”  Except he didn’t.  He jumped out.

JUMPED.  Out of the freaking car.

Asshole.

These dogs will be the death of me.  If they don’t physically kill me by tripping me, or knocking me down, they’ll give me a heart attack with their antics.

Finally, Finally… some good progress… It has been a long time coming. Now, if Sampson won’t injure himself by jumping around! I don’t think you could take that.
His paws look wonderful and he has a sparkle in his eye. Both sure signs, he is healing and feeling better. Yay!!!

He may cause your nerves to bust, but perhaps he is finally healing and feeling better and these are signs?

I’m so glad he’s feeling better. You know he’s getting back to normal when he starts giving you heart failure again. LOL

Dogs have so many good effects on us that the good effects offset any badness they might cause.

I think that you are right and he is finally feeling better. I think jumping out of the car is proof. Glad to hear it and good luck making him take it easy now…lol.

Dogs! They don’t listen! Hate that when they jump when they’re not supposed to! Our tri-paw would jump on and off our bed, which was super high up. Have me a heart attack every time! Hope he’s doing okay! Sending pawsitive thoughts!

Oh my goodness, I can just imagine how much that freaked you out when he jumped! But it is so great to hear all the good news about his improvement! His paws do look so much better, and doesn’t he look so sweet and content on his couch?

I am glad he is doing better! I call my Bruce an asshole on a regular basis. Seeing that Sampson is one too makes me feel better.

It sounds like he’s doing much better… but I sure know what you mean about how scary a dog’s antics are when they start to feel better after an injury or surgery! I’m so glad he’s feeling better!

Yeah for Sampson, see he is getting there, time baby time. I can’t believe what that laser does to lick granuloma’s that is so wonderful!

Yikes Sampson. Stop scaring your mom!

So glad to hear that you believe he’s improving, and that he’s stopped licking his paws. 🙂

Oh Sampson! I’m glad he’s doing better, but it does make it more difficult to keep him from reinjuring himself. Silly boy.

Thank you, it is really good to see you concern about dogs but we need to think about the people who cannot eat a single meal a day.
