Happy Halloween!!

October 31, 2013 By Jodi

Today we are joining the 2 Brown Dawgs and Ruckus the Eskie for This ‘N That Thursday, the Halloween Edition. Many thanks to our hosts.

Before I share our Halloween contribution, I’d like to share some extremely good news.  If you are my friend on Facebook you probably already know this.

Remember this girl?

Urgent

Last Tuesday I was bawling my eyes out because her photo was removed from Petfinder.  This Tuesday I was bawling my eyes out because I found out that she did indeed have a name and that name was Arista.  I’m not sure what she’s being called now, but I am beyond thrilled to share that she was saved!

While I’m certain that my blogging about her really had no bearing on her fate, I’m also almost certain that social media played a very large part and for that I am extremely grateful.

Halloween Fun

I have to commend those of you with the foresight to plan for holiday shoots and the patience it takes to work with one or multiple dogs.  I have trouble getting both of my dogs looking in the same direction, never mind at the camera.

None-the-less here for your viewing pleasure is our contribution to the Halloween edition of This ‘N That Thursday.

Halloween And for the record, Delilah was not amused.  I believe her exact words were, “Are you woofing kidding me?”

I better watch out the next time there’s a human shaming hop. 😀

Dogs of Blogville Calendars

The calendars arrived yesterday!!  Yay!!  It will take me a few days to get them out.  I hope to really work on them tomorrow, but having to ship to so many people may take a little bit of time.

Plus I will probably have to raid a couple of Post Offices in order to get all the supplies I need. 🙂  (Note to self, if I do this again, it might be a wise idea to order the postal supplies.)

Follow-Up Friday

I wanted to respond to a comment posed in last week’s blog hop.

Earl Lover said, “I think I should know a bit more about blog hops before hosting/co-hosting, as I don’t want to volunteer then not know what I’m doing! But if its free, then I would be quite happy to co-host.”

First, it is definitely free!  If someone is charging you to co-host or join their blog hop that is not cool.

Second, I really have very few rules for my FUF co-hosts.  I personally like to go to the blogs who are participating and thank them for doing so.  As a co-host if you’d like to do that you are welcome to, but it is certainly not required.

I do ask that you mention you are co-hosting and provide a link to Heart Like a Dog in your post, but other than that, I have no rules.

If you are able to insert link code in your blog to have the hop show up, then you can be a co-host.  If you aren’t able to insert code but are able to add a link to my site and tell people they can get the code here, then you can be a co-host.

I provide the code to you typically sometime on Thursday, although if I’m being very proactive you might get it sooner. 😀 I also add your link to the hop so you don’t have to worry about getting up early and inserting your link.  It’s all part of the service.

It really is that easy.  And hopefully you’ll find some great new blogs to read and make some new friends.

That being said, my co-host for tomorrow’s hop is Jo-Ann from Sand Spring Chesapeakes.  If you are interested in co-hosting next week, please let me know in the comments, or drop me an e-mail at stone.jodi@ymail.com

That’s it for today, I look forward to recapping my week and answering some of your questions in tomorrow’s Follow-Up Friday post.

Cute photo, getting all three of us to look is not always easy. Bailie and I are great at it but Katie always likes to be a spoiler and it pisses Mom off! Can’t you get the postal supplies at an Office Max or other office store? For sending out my books we ordered mailers from Staples and had them delivered within 24 hrs for no extra charge, it was awesome. They are usually cheaper and have a better selection than the post office. Just another reason the postal service is in such bad shape…poor service, lack of product and over pricing…sad actually. Happy Howloween!

Love the masks, I was looking at some and was going to do that with my dogs then I changed my mind. Can’t wait to co host again tomorrow. I best get cracking and get it done. Have a wonderful Halloween. So glad that precious dog was saved. You do make a difference.

The masks are great. You did a good job getting them to look at the camera. What happy news that Arista has been saved. Social Media can be an amazing tool at times. Happy Howl-O-Ween!!!

You wouldn’t know Delilah felt her dignity was assaulted. She’s sitting up so nice and proud.

Will we be seeing the blooper reel any time soon? 🙂

I hear you – I opted for photoshop picture because I knew Maggie would have no part of any dressing up. Jack likes to pose, Maggie – hates it and always looks away. I think you did a great job on this though! Happy Halloween. We should figure out a way to combine/co-host FUF and FitDog Friday once in awhile.

I know exactly where you’re coming from when it comes to getting a “group picture” of the dogs! Callie and Shadow have always been easy to photograph together cuz they seem to be attached to each other most of the time. But Ducky? She hams it up at times; but she likes to get between her sisters and pester them so I can’t get a picture of the three of them looking at me all at the same time. Little demon! LOL 🙂

One of the things my dogs especially like about me is that I gave up trying to take pictures many years ago. The few I manage to snap are too terrible to post on the internet. Delilah looks like she would like to be America’s Next Top Model. Was there a bribe involved?

Great news about Arista – never underestimate the power of social media!
I think Samson and Delilah look rather posh in their masks – hope they have a ball to go to.

Great pic!! My Mum only has to deal with one dog looking at the camera and usually that doesn’t work out!!

    Have fun

That is such awesome news about Arista….who knows how her photo got to the right person, it is just great to know that social media is working and it makes it feel worth the time to write and share about these dogs.
I hear you on the photo…I’m lucky if I can get one dog to look at the camera, never mind two, and forget about costumes or masks! So you did a great job!

Happy TNT Halloween Special Edition! Thanks for hopping onto the linkup! “Are you woofing at me?” That is exactly the expression on your pups face!

Jodi Halloween is fun and all but the best thing I read today is that Arista is safe…Those haunting eyes deserved a chance

You’re smart to hang onto that picture. Now every time you need a picture of both dogs being attentive and perfectly posed, it’s right there. Pilgrim hats, Santa hats, you name it. You’re ready.

Thanks so much for participating in TNT! I really love the costumes. I tried to pick something that I thought I could get brown dawgs to wear. I am not sure I would have been able to get them to wear glasses so good job!

I was so happy to see that Arista got out of the shelter….a happy ending!
