This ‘N That Thursday

October 17, 2013 By Jodi

Today we join 2 Brown Dawgs and Ruckus the Eskie for This ‘N That Thursday.  It’s a day designed for a pinch of this and a dash of that.  Many thanks to our hosts!

Protecting your dogs.

About three months ago Hubby and I added padlocks to both the gates leading into our yard.  While my bigger concern was one of the gates accidentally being left open, I realized after reading a post on Fidose Reality there are other reasons to padlock your gates.  If you get the chance pop over and read Eight Ways To Get Your Dog Stolen.   Lots of great info in there.

Fall Foliage

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA The other night when I was walking the dogs we had a good strong wind.  Honestly the leaves were falling like snow. Yes those round spots in the photo are actually leaves.

I love to take photos of the foliage, but in some of the more beautiful spots it’s rather difficult to get a photo without a power line or telephone pole in the way.  I knew my time was limited though, so I grabbed my camera and headed out to my favorite reservoir.

PicMonkey Fall Collage I love the reflections of the trees on the water.  The lower right hand photo is actually one of the trees in our field.  The leaves almost look frosted.

And because I have a nifty new camera which takes panorama photos, I couldn’t resist trying it out.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA I love the look so much, I decided to shoot one of our field too.

They say you can tell how hard the winter is going to be by the stripes on the wooly bears.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA I’m not sure about squashed wooly bears.  Too bad they didn’t tell this guy to stay out of the road.  I didn’t see him and ran him over.

Ferndale, Washington

This is totally worthy of a WTF post.  A Vet in Ferndale was allowed to keep his license despite admitting to most charges of botching surgeries, using unnecessary force on animals and taking pain killers that were designed for his patients.

I admit, I skimmed through the article because I didn’t want to get too hot.  The thing that really frosted my ass was the Board of Governors allowed him to keep his license.  That is definitely WTF!

My thoughts?  The Board of Governors has no balls.  But we do.  Let’s get this son of a bitch’s name out and shut the mutherfucker down.  Share the story on your social media outlets warning people of this man and what he is capable of.

Let’s get the word out and make sure this guy doesn’t get the opportunity to hurt someone else’s pet.

You can read the entire article here.

Follow-Up Friday

My co-hostess this week is Linda from 2 Brown Dawgs.  Check back tomorrow when I answer some comments and wrap up our week.

Thanks again to 2 Brown Dawgs and Ruckus the Eskie!

Good luck in shutting down that negligent vet. How on earth did they allow that?

the fall photos are just gorgeous! You live in a stunning area.

Ah, Autumn in New England! Didn’t Barry Manilow have a hit with that title? Whether he did or not, I agree with Caren! But Autumn in the Blue Ridge Mountains is beautiful, too! I wish I could just head up there right now! But knowing me, I’d get lost and not find my way home…I need my human co-pilot (Sam) with me. And a vehicle big enough for Ducky’s crate and my Golden Girls.

As for the WTF: I shared the story yesterday with my friend who lives in the Seattle area and asked her to make sure the story gets around. I just thought of another friend — a school chum — who lives out there now. I’ll send it to her, too. It is absolutely despicable that the scum was allowed to keep his license!

Love the photos, the colors are amazing. I hope something can be done about the vet, what an asshole!

Beautiful colors on those fall photos!

Our trees are still about 90% green so we are enjoying your colors.

It is always so hard to get rid of a unfit teacher, doctor or veterinarian. At least with the doctor or vet we can stop going to them.

I love fall and am going on vacay next week so I can bask in it with my fam and the Dex man. Love the pics. Thx for sharing my 8 Ways to Get Your Dog Stolen post. Scary people out there, so I appreciate you sharing.

Beautiful pictures! We still don’t have a lot of color here, I’m hoping this weekend will change that!

And I agree, locks on the gates is a great idea. I’m hearing more and more stories of stolen dogs. It’s hearbreaking!

Your fall is so beautiful. The leaves don’t really change here, and I miss it. September and early October are hard months to live in a hot climate.

Absolutely gorgeous photos!! You’re way ahead of us; our leaves have just begun to turn. However, the walnut and persimmon trees are already bare of leaves and… they are LOADED with nuts / fruit. Supposedly a sign of a cold, wet winter. 🙁

Beautiful foliage photos! Especially the panoramic ones. When we visited an apple orchard recently, I wanted some photos of the views and there were power lines everywhere!! This is the area of NH where they want “Northern Pass” to go through….more power lines all through the state. I understand why people are against it.
OK, going to read that article, and will share if I can.

So what do the stripes on those furry little guys mean? Never heard about that before but we see them around.

Beautiful photos! Our trees are turning color, but not like that… at least not yet. Another week or so, maybe. Too bad about that vet. I hope enough people hear about it that they don’t take their pets to him any more.

Thanks so much for participating in TNT! You really got some nice pictures with your new camera. I have not tried the panorama setting yet. Must play with that. 🙂

Good idea on the padlocks for your yard. You can’t be too careful. Our dogs are not left outside unless padlocked in their runs.

    Hi Y’all!
Love the leaves reflecting…I love tree reflections too, but you are so right…they are much better in living color. As for the vet, well, if his patients are lucky he’ll OD on the patients pain medicine.
    Y’all come by now,

Love all the shots of the resevoir Jodi. Fall sure is a beautiful time a year. We’ve been out and about enjoying a lot of nice walks too, although our scenery is not nearly as breathtaking as yours. Actually, it’s pretty dirty and litter covered. LOL!

Poor little Wooly Bear. 🙁 They are pretty darn cute for a bug.
