You Make Me Smile – July 14, 2013

July 14, 2013 By Jodi

One of the big reasons I started this blog was for all the crazy, funny things my dogs do that bring a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.

Sometimes it’s not easy to write a full blog post about it and sometimes I forget to share.

Some posts will be You Make Me Laugh and others will be You Make Me Smile, but they will all be the silly, sweet, funny things Sampson and Delilah do that help make crazy days just a little bit easier.

Feel free to share what your pet does to make you laugh/smile in the comments.

Eat treat lying down

Do your dogs eat treats lying down? Any thoughts on how to get a lazy dog to sit up?

For treats we always get up. Mom says the ultimate lazy dog move was about 2 years ago when she took me out to pee and I laid down and peed while lying down. I did this several times, Mom said it was disgusting and lazy so she stopped me from doing it by pulling me up when I would start. Lying down like that and eating, never tried that.

EVERYTHINGY that we do seems to make our mom smile. We sit down and eat our treats sometimes…

We do that sometimes too. Have a serene Sunday and have some big easy today.
    Best wishes Molly

Doggy is not big on treats. But he’s good at sleeping, see, when I stayed up late for any reason, like last night, till 3am he stays up to, this morning I woke up at 8, he looked up and went back to sleep, didn’t leave his comfy place under the bed until 10am when I started to call him for his morning walk.
It cracks me up, he’s just a puppy but he likes his 8 hours of sleep.

We are supposed to get up to get a treat? Don’t tell dad! Way to go Sampson! We dogs can multi-task too!

hehe cute. when my dogs are laying down sleeping we will put a treat in front of their nose to see if they will wake up, sometimes they wake up and sometimes they just grab the treat and eat it without even opening their eyes.

haha Too cute! My Titan likes to lay down for treats but I make him at least sit up. Don’t want him chewing laying on his side. So I tempt him with the treat until he at least lift his head in a straight up position. This is a game we have to play at times. πŸ™‚

Sometimes Torrey will drink water laying on her tummy when we get done walking. And treats are usually like that, but not on her side laying down. Not yet anyway, LOL.

That is awesome Sampson! We always get up to eat our treats cause we are so scared that one of the other dogs will get out treat if we don’t gobble it down right away!

That is a new one to us. Samson is so creative. We think if anyone tried that around here the treat would quickly be in the mouth of a faster dog.

Dakota inhales his so he really doesn’t have time to lay down πŸ™‚

How lovely! We had a cat who would lay down by her food bowl and play at scooping up the food with her paw. It was a great game but very messy – not so much fun when she did it with the water bowl πŸ˜‰

Our Bailey used to do that. Then she would also look at you like “While you’re here…why don’t you make yourself useful and scratch my belly as well.”

Absolutely have lazy dogs at times eating treats, their food and even water πŸ˜‰ Maybe the mention of lets go for a ride might get them up πŸ™‚

That is truly funny. Lila doesn’t do that – yet!

I’ve never had a dog do that before, and I can’t lay down and eat, so how do they? πŸ™‚ But it would make me smile to see it too!

I love your “You make me smile” posts!

Elka will frequently take a treat or a toy and chew on it with her butt in the air.

Typist dog will lie down while eating his breakfast or tea!

LOL! I can’t remember any of our dogs eating a treat while laying on their sides. I think Jackie is right… if you’d only rub his tummy, his bliss would be complete πŸ™‚

A day late, but better than never, huh? πŸ™‚

Since Shadow had the growth on her neck removed last year, I tell her “Up” before giving her her Cosequin tablets — she usually lays on her side while waiting for me to get their meals ready. Callie, I do believe, could eat in just about any position. Then there’s Ducky — she tries to be sneaky to get some of Callie’s food, but I have eyes in the back of my head again (they had closed over when my stepson moved out of town), so I don’t let her get close enough. Callie would probably just let her take the food, like she does the toys; but I don’t want to find out the hard way that I’m wrong.

Way to go, Sampson — make your Mom smile!

Silas with either sit up or not even bother to eat it, LOL.

I love his little tongue sticking out in the photo. Makes me smile, too.

The thing that Emmett does that cracks me up every single time: Emmett snoozes soundly. When Lucas and Cooper bark (which they do often), Emmett doesn’t want to disturb his sleep, but he wants to show solidarity… so he’s curled up in his bed, eyes closed, and he gives off a half-hearted quiet little “woof.” Then goes right back to sleep.

I’ve never seen a dog eat a treat lying down! My dog makes me laugh when he’s running away from the duck.
