Super Sweet Blogging Award

Last week our friends at All Things Collie presented us with the Super Sweet Blogging award.  Sampson and Delilah did a post about this very award last December, so I thought I’d say thank you very much to All Things Collie and let you read their answers here.

Weather

With the warmer weather comes the added chance of thunderstorms.  We’ve had our fair share of them of late and they always seem to be right around the time we’re taking our walk.

The flash always makes it seem darker.

The flash always makes it seem darker.

I love walking and truth be told I actually enjoy walking in a light to moderate rain. While it can be slightly uncomfortable walking in wet clothes, rain does help keep the bugs away.  But when the thunder rolls in like waves upon the shore, I draw the line.

And the thunder rolls.

And the thunder rolls.

I usually let the dogs choose our path and simply follow them wherever they go.  I have been encouraging them to use one particular path on our way out of the park.  When we hit this path I say, “Let’s go home.”

When we reach the intersection we can turn right and head back towards the field or turn left and head towards our car.  I usually try and plan our walks so we hit this path right around the 25 minute mark and it takes us about five minutes to walk it, so in my mind it’s a win-win.

Last night Delilah wanted to hit our ‘home’ path early so I thought, no biggie, we’ll turn right into the field instead of left.  Silly me.  I’m not sure it was the heat, or the fact that we’ve cut our walks short a couple of times but we hit the end of that trail and the dogs turned towards the car.

Rut row.

Don’t think I slacked off because we just finished K-9 Kamp, we didn’t get the “Walking Warriors” award because we’re wimps.  No siree Bob.  I urged them the other way and we finished our half hour walk.

Thank you to Kol's Notes and Peggy's Pet Place for hosting K-9 Kamp.

Bones

My dogs love their bones.  I currently have the Jones Natural Chews center bones and I fill them every day and freeze them, they are the nightly treat in our house.

These bones are well loved.  Don’t believe me?  Have a look.

Broken Bone Care to hazard a guess as to who loved this bone to pieces?

If you guessed Delilah, you’d be wrong.  Oh Delilah loves these bones, there’s no doubt about it, but she is not the extreme chewer with them like Sampson is.

2 Bones The bone on the left is Delilah’s.

For whatever reason, Sampson chews these bones a lot harder than Delilah.  Of course, I threw this one out which means I need to replace it. 🙂

Follow-Up Friday

Join us tomorrow for Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.  My co-hostess for this week is JoAnn Stancer from Sand Spring Chesapeakes.

Many thanks to our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs for the This ‘N That Thursday blog hop.  See you tomorrow.

Mom doesn’t mind walking in the rain either if she is prepared for it, my sister dislikes being wet, so it makes her mad! Those bones sure look well loved! We don’t have anything like that because mom is afraid we might fight over them – yes, the plan would be to have them under supervision, but mom knows that one time she would forget and then something would happen, so none of those for us 🙁

I love rain. Shoot, weather in general. 🙂

Those bones are well loved in your house! Does a shop near you sell Jones? If not, there’s always naturaldogtreatshop.com.

I love walking in a light rain, too. It cools everything off! But I’m with you: not in thunder and lightening! Plus, my Lucas is pretty scared of thunder, so being out in it makes him super tense. No fun for anyone!

We love walking in a light summer rain too, but we never get light summer rains here. It stops raining in April and doesn’t start until October or so. We miss thunderstorms in the summer too. .

We can do light rain but anything more is a pain in our book.Have a tremendous Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly.

Do I assume that your dogs are not afraid of thunder. My previous dog was terrified and, although I used to love our summer thunderstorms, I learnt to hate them because of her. It’s taken me years to enjoy them again.

Those bones must be yummy! I have never had a bone because I hate chewing. I barely even chew my treats and food. I am a vacuum cleaner.

    Love and licks,

We don’t get too much rain, and almost no thunder (and hardly any bugs). I love when it rains cuz it’s an excuse to stay home and cuddle up on the sofa. Neither of us are crazy about walking in the rain, unless it’s very light.

What do you fill the bones with? (did you do a post on that and I missed it?)

Love the walking picture and thunder picture. I love thunderstorms and love to sit on the deck when they are brewing, don’t like to walk or do anything in the rain, but love the smell of rain. They sure do love their bones, mine do to. Have a great rest of the day!

    Hi Y’all!

We have lots of severe thunderstorms. Winter it rains, but summers bring thunder and lightning. In the mountains thunderstorms can circle the mountain tops for an entire day. My Human only takes me out on a “need to go” basis. Winter rains are cold and usually heavy. While my Human puts on a rain coat and seems happy enough, I don’t like the cold stuff beatin’ on my back.
Enough about rain and my likes and dislikes! I’m slow gettin’ around to it, but I want to let you know I have an Award to share with you on my blog today!
    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

I don’t mind walking in the rain, either, as long as it’s not too much. The Princess has other opinions, though…

Thanks so much for participating in TNT! I would have guessed Delilah killed the bone and would have been wrong. Just goes to show…lol. Good for you getting your whole walk in despite the weather. It is inconvenient that the storms start to roll in just when we finish work for the day.

    Congrats on finishing K-9 camp.

I love running in a light mist – it just seems to be easier – walking in the rain is great too.

Congrats on your awards! Thnderstorms have been huge here lately and have cancelled a few of our walks, as well as taking out my internet with fallen debris…I don’t mind walking in a light rain but Gizmo is not too fond of it so we try to walk in early AM before the storms roll through

    Congratulations, you award winner you!

Question about the bones. How big a chunk do you allow the dogs to eat before you toss them? Because of Honey’s squeakyectomy, I’m probably a bit paranoid about blockages. But I toss her bones out when they’re just starting to break pieces off.

    Just curious.
