Let It Snow

December 31, 2012 By Jodi

We call mischief on the snow that started Saturday afternoon and continued through the evening.

My daughter had gone out and after we had eaten dinner and cleaned up I decided to let Beauregard out of his ‘casa’ so he could potty.

The fact that he is a four-month old bull-dog puppy and we had at least eight inches of snow on the ground never dawned on me until I opened the door.

The snow reached the top of the shovel.

The snow reached the top of the shovel.

Hubby ran out to the front to get the shovel.

Bo took one look at the snow and said, no way.

No amount of coaxing could convince him to go outside.  Even after Hubby shoveled a path and we used treats to try to coax him, he wouldn’t budge.

I don't care what you offer me, I ain't goin.

I don’t care what you offer me, I ain’t goin.

Hubby went outside with the umbrella to shield him from the snow but the umbrella seemed to scare him.

Instead he came back inside and piddled on the rug.

When my daughter came home she asked, Did you put his coat on?

Um no, I didn’t realize he needed a coat to go outside.

They put his coat on and he ran outside and pottied.

When Sampson and Delilah went out a short while later, they had to break their own path.

You just push your way through it.

You just push your way through it.

Did you get snow where you live?  Did I mention this is the Monday Mischief Blog Hop hosted by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, Luna a Dog’s Life and My Brown Newfies?

Ah the difference between retrievers and some other breeds. 🙂 Putting a coat on Bo would not have occurred to me either.

Cute! Shiva doesn’t ever want to go outside either when it’s snowing heavily but after a few minutes she remembers how much fun it is and it’s hard to get her back in!

    Glad the coat worked!

Ha-ha! Bo is so frickin adorable! I love that he won’t go outside without his coat on! We got a lot of snow over the last few days and the Newfs couldn’t be happier! Leroy and I have been taking nice longs walks all week in it!
Hope you had a great visit with your daughter and Happy New Year!

Too Cute! I would have never thought of putting a coat on him!
No snow here in the Bahamas, but my Shiloh would LOVE it. He loves the “cold” weather that we do get. 🙂
    Happy New Years Eve!!!

Ok, that made me laugh out loud. We have about 18″ of snow, and 7 pound Roxy gets high centered easy. We clear a path for her. Torrey doesn’t care…she loves the snow.

You’ve got a Prima Dona on your hands there! We got a few inches, and Cupcake was afraid for a minute, but then remembered what to do and went right out. Of course, she had her coat on! Prima Dona!

I am with Bo! Felix would *never* step out into the snow without his coat on either. He knows. Dogs are smarter than we give them credit for.

(PS – saw your comment at Something Wagging about puppy snarkiness. If it makes you feel better, I thought Koly was going to kill baby Lu the first weekend we had him, but now they’re great friends and totally get along.)

Too funny!! That Bo is a card, can’t believe you didn’t put his coat on so he could go outside. LOL Happy New Year Jodi 🙂

Silly puppy! And I love seeing pictures of dogs in the snow. I find snow to be wonderful stuff, in photographs.

I wonder if a little raincoat would help Silas do his business in the rain?

Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jetty here. Hi Miss Jodi. (Hey Beau.)

Wow, he needed his GQ accessory, huh? I think the bullies and pugs need winter wear more than us retrievers from what we read around blogville… of course, we’re clueless living in the tropics… it’s like 79 outside right now, although expecting a cold snap at the week’s end… (Mom asked me to share this is why we suffer through over a half year of 100% humidity and boiling temps!)

  22. Jessica @ YouDidWhatWithYourWeiner says

    December 31, 2012 at 7:43 pm

We rarely get snow in Seattle but when we do we have to shovel a patch of snow for our weiner dogs too 🙂

  23. kirbysdawgblog says

    December 31, 2012 at 10:08 pm

Awww, poor little Bo! Kirby definelty knows how he feels being a small guy in a big snowy world. We have snow here but that is crazay! Kirby would definitely need a path or he would disappear in the snow, literally! And its funny that your daughter told you to put his coat on, because that is the same thing I tell my mom all the time. They need it I tell ya! XD

Bo, so smart! I wouldn’t wanna go out without a coat either! That’s some good Monday Mischief!
Rita’s never seen snow… Maybe this year we’ll have to take her to see some.

Wow who would have thought it was a coat that could be more persuasive than a treat!!!
