Chillaxin

November 24, 2012 By Jodi

After the rush and bustle of Thanksgiving, Hubby and I got up yesterday morning, packed up the car and the dogs and took off for my sister’s in New Hampshire.

Delilah was a bit hesitant when she saw the suitcases come out, but quickly relaxed once she realized she was coming with us.

Suitcases make me nervous.

Delilah settled down in the back, but Sampson likes to be up near the front, it didn’t take long before I offered up my travel pillow so he could ride more comfortably.

He seemed quite comfy.

It takes us about 3 1/2 to 4 hours to get to my sisters, but we usually stop at close to the half-way mark to give everyone a break.

Hubby pottied the dogs while I went to the ladies room.  They looked so happy walking around the field.

I could tell the minute they recognized me, they got so excited.

Once we got to my sister’s, the dogs got to spend a lot of time outside.  The house sits on 11 acres, with a big open field.

While my sister and I went out to do a little Black Friday shopping (don’t judge, BF shopping is WAY different in NH than it is in CT,) Hubby, my brother-in-law and one of his friends got a great big ole bonfire going.

Sampson was okay off-leash but Delilah had to be on the long one, because we can’t have her lost in the wilds of New Hampshire.

Is it warm, or is it just me?

It didn’t take long before my sister and I went back to the house to make dinner and took Sampson and Delilah with us.

The excitement and activity of the last two days tired the dogs out.  Delilah flopped down on the floor, while Sampson helped himself to my sister’s chair.

We all hit the hay early, so we can be refreshed and ready for whatever today brings us.

Did you have the day off, or did you have to work?  Did you brave the stores or did you just find a comfy place to snooze?

Sounds like a great way to spend the day! I had work so didn’t get to enjoy a day off, but it was nice a quiet there. I don’t do Black Friday (Thanskgiving is my signal to stay away from stores unless absolutely necessary until after Christmas), but I did stop at the fabric store after work to take advantage of their coupon. That’s as close as I get to BF,

We like to travel and visit people but this year we have not gone much of anywhere, oh well, we have had fun at home.

We visited family. We aren’t shoppers in the first place so BF doesn’t happen in our house. We are glad you had a super fun day!

We all watched football and hung out. Our favorite kind of day.

How nice you could visit your sister. And even better, that she lives somewhere that makes it so easy for the dogs to tire themselves out.

If you’re lucky, they’ll slip the entire trip home.

We spent Friday puttering around the house. I worship at the church of Buy Nothing Day. 🙂

It looks like a fun and busy trip! We usually go and get our tree on Friday, but yesterday it was brutally cold and windy, so we went out for a little shopping and lunch, then went to get the tree today.

It’s great you could take this time to visit family. I went to New Hampshire once as a child and remember it being quite pretty. It looks like Sampson and Delilah feel comfortable there as well. I hope you have a great time!

We’ve had the whole week off — and enjoyed being lazy — and we didn’t go BF shopping. We both refuse to go anywhere near the stores! I pass a Publix on the way to Ducky’s doggie daycare, and it’s the only store I got close to all day.
PS I still have to write you a check for the calendars — never even looked at the checkbook this week.

That sounds like a nice trip and you wore the dogs out so that is a big bonus…lol.

No shopping for me. I just cannot do BF shopping anymore. 🙂
