Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday (11-9-12)

November 9, 2012 By Jodi

Welcome to Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

Joining me as co-hosts this week is the crew, Teddy, Ash and Scout (and their mom Lisa) from Dogs N Pawz, you’ll find all kinds of tips and links on this blog and if you’re looking for some humor watch out when the dogs take over.  Welcome Dogs N Pawz and thank you for joining me this week!

A Brut Moment Challenge Starring Delilah – Author’s Note

Yes it was a very proud moment and probably the first time in five years of having Delilah as my companion (how do you like that word, Pamela?  I like it!) where I actually felt bonded to her, which isn’t to say we are always in sync like that. 🙂

Ode To Fall – Author’s Note

Misty Shores  wrote “You have done such a great job with Delilah but I still miss all the mischief stories I read about her when I first started following your blog.”  Never fear Misty, Delilah is still Delilah, I have a little Monday Mischief to share this week. 🙂

The Dogs of Blogville Calendar Contest – Update

As of last night I currently have eight photos entered in the calendar contest (I have yet to pick mine.)  They are all so adorable, I just don’t know how anyone will be able to choose!

Don’t forget the submittal portion ends next Tuesday at midnight, so get those photos in to stone.jodi@ymail.com and don’t forget to include Calendar Photo Contest in the subject line.

WTF/Whoo Hoo Wednesday – Author’s Note

In the comment section Sue said, “I am beginning to edit what I see/read because I just can’t take any more cruelty stories. I don’t know if the world has become a more cruel place (I think it has) or if more is reported these days, but there’s too much violently bad news for me.”

I have to say, I really agree with her, which is one of the reasons WTF/Whoo Hoo Wednesday needs to take a sabbatical.  The very first WTF post was sort of inspired, but since then I’ve seen some really horrible stories and it’s not easy sometimes to poke fun at the heinous stuff that goes on.

I want this blog to be about inspiration and hope and the incredible, loving bond between human and animal companions.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be an occasional WTF out of me, it just probably isn’t going to be a weekly event.

This ‘N That Thursday – Author’s Note,

We were lucky, we only got about three inches of snow where I live.  It wasn’t horrific, we didn’t lose power.

I feel bad for those areas in CT, NY and NJ who are still trying to pull their lives back together from Hurricane Sandy.  We did no power for a week last year after the late October storm, it wasn’t so long ago and I can certainly remember the displaced feelings I had.

Our hearts are with all affected by the hurricane.

Since I gave you one of my favorite pictures of Sampson yesterday, it’s only right that you should see Delilah today.

Sweet baby girl.

My book word count is 12,123

This is the Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday blog hop, if you’re interested in co-hosting please let me know in the comments.

First, I have to say that is a gorgeous photo of Delilah! She is so beautiful 🙂
Jodi, I hope you didn’t take my WTFWednesday comment as a criticism of your post! I was truly commenting on “dog news” as a whole. (Actually, I’ve always liked your Wed posts. A lot.) I’ve just sort of reached my personal “tilt” limit of bad news.

Sue, I absolutely DID NOT take your comment as a criticism, I hope it didn’t come across that way, I simply meant, that WTF Wednesday has become increasing harder for me to write (you were voicing my sentiments.) 🙂

I love when people leave comments like that, it shows me there are still humans that care. 🙂

Not only do all the gory photos and terrible stories upset me, I think that they are desensitizing. Not to mention, give people ideas. Just my opinion.

    Have a fabulous Friday.
    Best wishes Molly

That is a great picture of Delilah. I can’t wait to hear the mischief.

As far as animal cruelty, I think that on the whole people do not value life. In some cases it is an inconvenience to be terminated. In my opinion it all goes back to that.

    Good job on the writing!

Glad that you didn’t get too hard with the snow Jodi! We are sending prayers for those who are still recovering from Sandy!

I like your Wednesday posts, but I can totally relate to reaching a limit of how much WTF news one can take. I try to only propagate that sort of news when there’s something people can do to have an impact…like a petition to sign…but agree that just wallowing in it has limited merit.

And I think companion is a beautiful word 🙂

Delilah is beautiful! Gator looks a lot like her but he is much littler and skinnier:) Thank you for letting us co-host with you! Have a great weekend!

I don’t think there are really more incidents of animal cruelty, I think the media just gives them more space than ever before. I don’t know why.

Delilah looks so sweet and innocent 😉 I always steer clear of the horrific stories – they are just too upsetting and stick with me too much! Glad to hear that you are not digging yourself out of snow – have a great weekend! Now, I’m off to find a picture of Cali for the contest 🙂

While I understand taking a break on the WTF for a little while, I hope you will still continue with the woo hoos, they always make me smile and I can use that on a Wednesday!

Nice word count, by the way. Go Team Quintuple Digits!

I think our news cycle intensifies a lot of “bad” news, animal cruelty being just one part of that. It’s the same way with politics–on both sides, only the crazies get any news coverage, and they get more than ever. And then, more of the bad stuff being in the news normalizes it for people.

I somehow missed the initial calendar announcement! I’m sure I have at least one picture that I can send you (now to see what file attachment they have…)

Hey, you broke 12k words! Congratulations!

Next we need the adorable picture of Sampson and Delilah together. 🙂

Congratulations on your word count! You’re really pushing things along.

Oh look at that beautiful girl with those soulful eyes how could she possibly do any mischief 😉 I can’t wait until Monday 🙂

I have to say I have to quickly scroll by some of the horrific stuff about animal cruelty posted on fb, I know it’s out there but I don’t need graphic pictures to remind me and I kind of feel like they are preaching to the choir by posting it because my friends all love animals so somehow the message isn’t getting to the people it needs to.

    Have a great weekend 🙂
