Thoughts I Ponder

October 9, 2012 By Jodi

I’m having a real brain fart when it comes to today’s post. I started three different posts and deleted them all.  I decided I’m just going to throw out the thoughts that have been running around in my head, the last day or so.

BTW, these thoughts do not keep me up at night.

How do fires start?  I tried and tried to get a fire going in the fireplace last night but just couldn’t do it, and that was using wood, matches and paper.

Why must it get dark earlier in winter?  I mean I know scientifically why it gets darker, but really Mother Nature, do you think we have less things to do during the winter that require daylight?

How do you keep a chocolate lab named Delilah from taking clean containers out of the dish rack?  Why is a clean chicken container enticing to chew?

Why can’t she chew the lid from the Chinese food container instead of the one from Pampered Chef?  The Chinese ones are free!

Delilah, Pampered Chef is expensive!

If people are attracted to people similar to themselves, does that hold true for attractions their dogs?  What does that say about me?

Why does a store say 50% off one regularly priced item, instead of any item?  50% off a regularly priced $50 item is $25.00, 50% off an item on sale for $4.99 is $2.50.  That’s a big difference in what you’re giving away.

How long does it take to replace the power jack in a laptop? The told me four or five days, it’s been 10. (I miss my laptop!!)

How can Delilah wait so patiently for her dad to come home but have no patience for anything else?

He’s coming soon, I can smell him.

How can a dog follow you everywhere you go in the house, sit in front of you while you do your business, but run off in the woods?

Really, where is Waldo?  Why does anyone care?

Am I the only one who thinks like this?  What kind of thoughts do you ponder?

I’m with you on the getting dark early thing. Also, it just isn’t right to have to wake up in the morning when it’s still dark outside. And for another fall conundrum, why do we have to rake up leaves? Why isn’t it okay to just leave them there on the ground where mother nature dropped them?

I love your deep thoughts. I also agree on the getting dark earlier question – and I’d add that I wonder why we still have to change the clocks when we’re not a predominantly agrarian society anymore. Can’t I just keep that extra hour of daylight in the evening? I hate when it’s dark before I even get home from work.

Doggy does exactly the same, it drives me nuts!

You’re so right. Why do the days have to get shorter? I definitely do not have less to do and it would be helpful if there was a little more daylight to keep me off of the sofa 😉

That picture of Delilah waiting for her dad is too cute!

Third item from the bottom…hahaha. So true. They trip you in the house but in the yard or in a field stay as far away as possible while acting like they don’t know you.

I think that plastic containers must retain a lot of smell from the food they once held. My dogs can.t resist any they can reach.

Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jetty here. Hi Miss Jodi.

You and Mom really need to get together for a chat, you seem to have musings in the same areas!!!

Hope Sampson’s feeling more comfy today. 🙂

I hear ya on so many of these, especially the dogs, can’t let me out of their sight in the house but outside they suddenly don’t want to be bothered with me…lol

The one that gets me: why is the upstairs water dish so much better than the downstairs one?

I’m lucky with Gracie…so far. There are things she likes to chew and she doesn’t vary much from that! My shoes, purse chair legs and furniture have been safe, we started with bitter apple as soon as she moved in. But you see that little white toothpick on the floor in the second picture? She loves to grab those! I have to be so careful, I’m afraid she’ll chock on it!

I don’t like the darker evenings either.

I ponder why peoples leave wonderful chew toys within reach in their dish racks, and then get upset when we chew them.

I also ponder why peoples would expect us to chew up flimsy plastic lids when they leave nice sturdy ones that you can really sink your teeth into lying around.
