Yes I'm Back At Work

August 6, 2012 By Jodi

I complained to Hubby yesterday after Sampson, Delilah and I got back from our walk.

Maybe it was because I walk in long pants, with a long-sleeved shirt, socks, sneakers and a ball cap and it’s hot as freakin’ hell.  Really, within five minutes (or just as soon as I’ve reached the top of the hill) I’m sweating like a 500 pound man in a 500 degree oven.

Maybe it was because I can’t walk in the summer without  the bugs…well bugging me.  I swear to God a big sucker flew past my ear and was so stinkin loud the other day that the hair on my body stood on end.

Maybe it was because the bugs keep bugging Delilah and I’m constantly asking my dog to stop or wait while I swat at her.

Maybe it was because the dogs get hot and tired too and stop in the middle of the path and block my progress.

Maybe it was because those stupid spiders build their stupid webs across the trail and I’m constantly flailing and screaming like a little girl, and basically look like a lunatic swatting at nothing.

Or maybe, just maybe it was because it was my last day of vacation and I knew how much 1) I didn’t accomplish while I was home, 2) I’ll miss walking the dogs first thing in the morning and 3)  I’d hate going back to work.

Maybe it was all of the above.

Do you have a hard time adjusting after vacation?

I know the feeling, it happened to me last week, the first few days weren’t too bad cuz I had a lot to catch up, but this week, this is being hell, I’m the only one at work, I have literally nothing to do cuz everything in here stops in August. I´m basically watching the Olympic games and reading blogs lol

All of those things would make me grumpy too 🙂 Time off always go by way too fast. Hope you have a great day in spite of having to be back at work!

Thanks Julie, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it isn’t too busy! But now I have to walk the dogs AFTER work, which means it could be really hot. 🙁

Oh yes… but it’s been quite a few years since our last vacation and I think I’m starting to forget!

Well it wasn’t a go anywhere vacation! LOL it was a stay at home and sit on my butt vacation!

Schedule your vacation! You deserve it.

…”sit on my butt vacation” sounds great to me!
I’m not complaining really… I do travel a lot every day in other ways, so I’m happy!
        😆

The first day back at work was always the hardest day of all for me. I felt like I needed a long vacation at the end of it. Part of it was that they saved a lot of work for me to do when I returned. How thoughtful?

Aren’t they just? It wasn’t too bad this time, at least I didn’t have to move stuff to sit in my chair. 😉

Those last days of vacation can be really rough. I will be happy when fall finally arrives. I am sick of hot weather and the ac.

I’m with you! No AC, no bugs, sweaters. Ah, I’m looking forward to it.

I have a hard time adjusting after the weekend, let alone after a vacation:)
I’m laughing thinking of you walking through the spider webs:) I do the same thing!

LOL I rarely have time for myself on the weekends so it’s really not a big adjustment for me. Wouldn’t you just love a video of yourself? It would probably make funniest videos. :-0

Always a hard one – having to go back to work. I can so relate to the screaming like a little girl bit. Had a good giggle there.

LOL I am such a little girl when it comes to insects. Ugh, I flicked an inchworm off me this afternoon!

Absolutely!! I would like it to never end 😉 One permanent vacation doing just exactly what I want to do when I want to do it, oh and yes I want to be paid for it…LOL

Definitely. I felt much the same way last year during my week-long holiday. My weekday walks with Shiva always have a strict timeframe. I have to make sure to bring my phone with me so I don’t walk for too long. It’s lovely to head out with the dog without worrying about getting back with enough time to get ready for work. You have my sympathy on this hardest of days.

Oh man, I would have been a grouch after that type of walk too. Don’t beat yourself up over not accomplishing all that you wanted on your vacation – it is vacation after all.

By the way your paragraph regarding spiders was hilarious. I am so there with you on spiders.

Sing it sister, I feel your pain [about going back to work after vacation!] Hope it wasn’t too bad. 🙁

I feel very low the last day of my vacation at the beach. For one thing, I’m really pissed that I’ve only ever taken a week off at a time while our European friends get a month off each year.

But every year I resolve to bring more vacation into my every day life. For instance, I live in a beautiful area of NY that draws tourists from all over. It should feel like vacation all the time. One of the big things I do is spend every second outdoors in the summer. I’d do it at the beach. Why not at home?

Yes, yes, YES! Every time. I might not have particularly enjoyed the holiday, but I still feel a sense of loss. I even say sad goodbyes to the hotel room.

We had a three day weekend here and I’m already mourning the loss of my free time tomorrow. Even f I hadn’t done much of anything, I’d be dreading going back (which is weird because I technically don’t hate my job)

Aw sorry Jodi. Nothing worse than going back to work after a vacation. Sorry just the thought of it ruined your day off. 🙁

    Hi Jodi,

Every day feels like a vacation to me, but I still don’t get all that I want to done, there are always Squirrels and Birds that I never got around to chasing, maybe if I didn’t take so many naps? Ah well….. 🙂

    Wags to all

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂
