Monday Mischief

July 9, 2012 By Jodi

We have two pools at our house.

Of course they’re not inground pools!  Are you kidding me?  Who could afford two inground pools?

No they are little kiddie wading pools.  We have one for the dogs, which gets emptied and refilled every couple of days, and one for the grandchildren or any other children who happen to come over.

This children’s pool generally gets emptied almost immediately after the children leave, we then lean it against the railing of the deck until it’s needed again.

We don’t let the dogs in the kiddie pool, although I do confess there are times when they drink out of it.  I mean who can resist that large, cold bowl of water?

Not my dogs.

We had a small graduation party for my niece (Congrats again, Taylor!) and seeing it was a warm day we took out the kiddie pool and filled it up.

My little grandchildren were tickled to have it to cool off in, until someone decided they liked the kiddie pool better than their own.

Um Sampson? This is our pool.

What do you think, would your children/grandchildren care if the dog went in their pool?
I think this is the Monday Mischief blog hop hosted by Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies, Luna a Dog’s Life and Alfie’s Blog.

Hop on, hop on.

That’s funny. The kids look like they don’t know what to do! I should get a pool like this for Lila. She would love it:-)

The kids didn’t know what to do! LOL I bet she would. Sampson goes right into the pool when we come back from our walks!

I really don’t think your dogs would catch anything from going into the children’s pool.:)

Are you sure Jan? I’d hate to expose them to something they haven’t been vaccinated for! LOL

    Love it!!

My niece would beg the dogs to get in with her, although it wouldn’t take much begging 😉

LOL Misty….Sampson just climbed in when he was ready, I’m fairly sure they didn’t want them in their pool. 🙂

I think Sampson was just showing them how it is done 🙂

Ha-ha, I have 3 pools! That’s one more than you!!!! Just kidding we have the big above ground pool which is for the kids and the little plastic pool for the dogs, but when the kids were little they use to share the plastic pool with the dogs. I think the dogs minded sharing more than the kids!

Aww 🙂 He was just feeling left out!
I had a pool last year for Gwynn, and he was convinced it was some new form of bath, so he woulnd’t do much more than drink out of it from the side. When a friend asked for it for her kid’s use, I handed it over. This year, I was in a dog park with a water spout, and someone had filled a kiddy pool next to it. Gwynn was right in there, rolling around and lying down in it, having a blast. And of course, I don’t have a kiddy pool anymore 😛

Well, I don’t have kids or grandkids but most children I know would be less than thrilled to come out of a pool covered in long, wet, golden hair. 🙂

Looks like lucky Delilah had the doggie pool all to herself!!!! Sampson’s facial expression is so sweet in that photo. What a precious boy to be so patient with the little 2 legged ones.

Of course the kids won’t mind. I’m sure they all had far more fun being together. What dog wants to be left out of the fun?

If I was a kid I probably would be jumping in the dog pool instead of the other way around. 😉

Sampson is just too cute. It’s so great he loves the water so much!

Sigh. The dogs won’t touch the kiddie pool – well, Sadie will stand in there frozen if I lift her in. Time to get out the bathing suit & clicker for some serious pool encouragement!

I too would be the kid in the doggie pool 🙂

Awww…cute picture. We always had an inground pool and our family dog loved it. We as kids loved it too.

    Have a great week!

Very cute pic! They all look happy to me. 🙂 My mom’s GSDs both share the kiddie pool with my niece, and they all have a blast together. 🙂

Those kiddie pools are great for dogs! The collies love the two we have and they hate it when we put them away for the winter and jump for joy when we bring them out. When we have grandchildren they will be invading the collies pools.. LOL Great post! 🙂

The more the merrier! I guess it would only be an issue if their Mom didn’t like it. I’m finniky about situations with little kids but I can’t see any problem with a time honored duo like kids, dogs, and water!

Oh yah, dogs and kids go together like–like dogs and kids! Even in the pool! Why not?

Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jet here. Hi Miss Jodi.

Awwww, who could say no to that picture? I go into the pool with Mom… we’re not sure about JJ yet. (ear issues) I’ve had the itchies and the boo boo, so, we haven’t gone yet this season, but… we’re waiting…

Mom asked me to share that she thinks you are so thoughtful for 2 pools. If the K9s are on the dirtier side, perhaps the K9 pool would be at least a great place to start. Otherwise, I say it’s up to the children’s parents.
