Aliens Took My Dog

May 22, 2012 By Jodi

That’s exactly what I thought yesterday morning.

While I was in the bathroom getting ready for work Delilah came in.  I pulled out my rug and threw it on the floor and said, “Down.”

Down she went.

I told her to stay, so she got herself all comfy and stayed.

Granted it wasn’t good enough for a show stay, but she did stay.  Even when I left the bathroom and went to check to see if my eggs were boiling.

Once I released her we went to the kitchen to get breakfast.  Even though she was dancing and jumping until we got there, she sat at the edge of the kitchen and waited while I got her breakfast.

She didn’t move once.

After breakfast the eggs were ready to be peeled. This can take me about 10 minutes because 1) I peel them while they are hot and 2) I make all my breakfast eggs at the beginning of the week, I also make a few for Hubby which means I made 14 eggs yesterday morning.

I peel the eggs directly over the garbage can.  Sometimes Delilah’s right there with me, trying to reach into the garbage and take out what I’m putting in there.

Not yesterday morning.

While I was peeling eggs Delilah sat in the doorway watching me.   At one point a piece of shell flew off and landed on the floor, I watched her from the corner of my eye.  She looked at it and then made the decision to leave it.

A minute or two later she looked at it again and I saw her head move as if she was going to get up and I said, “ACK,” and she left it alone.

I had no other options than to 1) reward her for such excellent behavior and 2) come to the conclusion that aliens had taken my dog.

Never fear, they brought her back late in the afternoon.

Just in time to help me make dinner.

How did your Monday go?

Well I am glad they brought her back, I think you would miss her misbehaving ways. 😉

Surprisingly yes. When she does behave I miss that mischievous little puppy. 🙂

You really should get Delilah fitted for an aluminum foil hat. You know, just in case…

Good thinking Jan, we wouldn’t want to change the essence of who Delilah is. 😉

Wow! It’s a good thing that those Aliens brought Delilah back! It sounds like she’s really being a GOOD GIRL!

I hope the Aliens don’t come to MY house…

    XOXO

LOL. Georgia sometimes get abducted by aliens but there must be something wrong with her because she always gets sent back.

I’m intrigued that you do “all your breakfast eggs at the beginning of the week”. You mean you prep a week’s worth of eggs on Monday morning? Like boil and fridge? Just curious 🙂

Exactly, that’s what they must have done with Delilah! LOL

Yes, I eat two hard boiled eggs for breakfast every work day morning, I boil them up and bring them into the fridge at work. That way I don’t forget my breakfast. 🙂

She always keeps you guessing, doesn’t she? I’ve read that surprises and mental challenges keep people from developing Alzheimer’s. If that’s true, Delilah is doing her part to keep your mind strong for years to come.

What a good girl. Take those moments and beam with pride.

She does keep me guessing, that’s for sure. 🙂 I do hope she is keeping my mind sharp, that is one disease I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

It is truly amazing all that can be accomplished with patience. Now if I could just find some patience…..:-)

Maybe she’s realized that her mischievous ways only make you more on guard. Maybe she is lulling you into breakfast-making complacence and BAM! your eggs will be toast. I feel like Hurley does that to me sometimes. Is especially good for like a week around food preparation and then BAM! eats the tinfoil we used to bake salmon. Yes, that happened last week.

Hah. Its always weird when dogs behave the way wed like them to, instead of how we expect them to behave!
