K-9 Kamp….Day Three Hundred, Two

September 28, 2011 By Jodi

Tonight ends week three of K-9 Kamp hosted by Koly and Kelly; I thought week two was hard.  PHEW!! We did much better last week than we did this week.

I did try to play tug with Delilah, the rope toys didn’t interest her at all, then I found the rubber chicken and squeak, squeak, squeaked it.

She grabbed hold of the chicken and pulled, and pulled, and pulled, and pulled!   She pulled me over.  And this is the REAL reason I don’t play tug with the dogs; I laugh too much.  She pulls so hard, that she pulls me over and I laugh so much that I can’t keep playing.

Eventually Sampson will want a piece of the action; he will grab hold of the chicken and try to take it away, sometimes they tug for a bit and sometimes he just grabs the toy and starts running like a crazy dog.

It’s best if I just stay out of their way! They don’t care who/what they hit when they start wrestling!

It may take the rest of kamp to complete THIS challenge!

haha – sounds like you did better than me, anyways 🙂 Gwynn doesn’t like playing tug. or he doesn’t get the concept, at least. because, if i take the other end of a toy, he lets go. it’s like, “OH! you want this? ok.” and if i offer a toy, he does his best to get his mouth as close to my hand as possible, in his attempt to get it out of my hand (if he wants it, anyways), but doesn’t tug, just keeps working his way up the toy, trying to push me out of the way.

Does he tug with another dog? Maybe he just thinks it is appropriate with another dog. LOL Gwynn is adorable!

for the most part, he just tries to take things from them, especially if it’s a stick long enough for him to grab. he’s like a pushover and a bully, all at once 😛

Glad you survived this week. This week’s challenge sounds like it was tough. If I let either brown dawg tug me, they would tug me over too. (But I spent so much time teaching them not to pull me over…lol.)

Hope next week will be a little easier!

You don’t tug with the 2 brown Dawgs, right?

      I know why!!

I can pull De over but not the tall person – yet! Of course, tug of war with the little person is very one-sided!

You are very strong, have you worked at pulling the tall one over?

Hey, its not the duration, its the intensity and the passion! I think you get an A+ for effort. Extra points for attempting the challenge with a chicken squeaky toy.
