K-9 Kamp….Day Two Hundred, Ninety One

September 17, 2011 By Jodi

With the work I am putting into the 31DBBB challenge keeping my mind extremely busy, I forgot to mention this week was the first week of Koly and Kelly’s K-9 Kamp.

Week 1’s challenge was to walk for 60 minutes with your pet.  It could be a straight hour or broken up into smaller increments, just get out and walk with your pet.

I almost felt like we were cheating because we do walk a LOT during the week, but since daycare started up again and Sampson and Delilah are going to The Mellow Mutt on Tuesdays and Fridays as well as Thursday night obedience class, we did have to make sure we got in a whole hour of walking.  I decided instead of keeping our walks to a half hour which is about normal, I would push them.

The dogs got their gear on and off we went last weekend.

Bring on the K-9 Kamp; we're ready!

50 minutes on Saturday and 40 minutes on Sunday and we managed to get a half hour in each on Monday and Wednesday!  We totally kicked it!

We wrapped up week one on Wednesday and I was so consumed with the 2nd 31 day challenge, I forgot to check the Kamp’s page for this week’s assignment until yesterday!  60 minutes of fetching!!

This is definitely going to be a challenge for Sampson, he is not a fetch kind of dog.

We hope you kicked whatever you did this week!

This is the Saturday morning blog hop.  Get your link and see who else is participating here.

Ok, so how many seconds did the shower caps stay on after you snapped the picture?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

They were actually the little bandanas that they come home with after a bath. 🙂 I snapped the picture, whipped them off and treated wtih a carrot. 🙂 Sampson was excellent, Delilah’s well I just looked at the picture again it looks to me like she is wearing a turban! LOL

At the hunt test this weekend they do a mini mini test for the kids. They throw a dokken (plastic training duck), and most kids borrow one of the high level dogs and sent them to retrieve it. Then the kids get a little trophy at the end for participating. One of the participants was 1 1/2 and she doesn’t understand that the dog fetches the duck. She has to run out and grab it and give it to the dog. It was very cute (of I had course no camera handy).

Anyway, maybe Sampson could get that girl to play fetch with him? 🙂

Hubby said I should have pulled their ears out, but honestly she was so excited about the carrot sitting there I could barely get it on her head!
