So They Wait….Day Two Hundred, Fifty Six

August 13, 2011 By Jodi

Dogs know how to tell time.

I know, they can’t say “Hey mom, it’s 7 o’clock time for dinner.”  Still they know it’s dinner time.

They also know when it’s time for you to come home from work.

Sampson and Delilah have their own favorite places to wait.

Delilah waits in the den.  When the futon was in the den, she would lie there waiting for us to come home.

Once the futon had been moved to my crafting room, she would lay on the floor or her dog bed;  directly in front of the sliding door overlooking the driveway.

When she hears/sees a car in the driveway she starts barking, welcoming us home.

Sampson waits in the bedroom. Once he hears the car (and probably Delilah barking) he comes out to greet you.

Once one of us are home, he knows the other is not far behind.  That’s when he waits at the top of the stairs.

What do your dogs do?  Do they wait for you? If so, where?

We use our kittehs for our food clock. Boy, they have it down to the MINUTE! But, when Mom or Dad come home in the car, that’s another story. Toby diligently waits by the front door. Me? Not so much.

    Sage,
Delilah starts even before food time. What would you do if you didn’t have the kittens?

Queenie puts her nose right up to the front door and never leaves until we return. Amazing perseverance these dogs have.

That picture of Sampson is too cute. It is funny, as our dogs get older, they know when it is time for bed and wait for us to take them upstairs so they can sack out…lol.

LOL waiting for us to come home is where it ends for Sampson. When he is done, he goes to bed; it has been like that for him since he was a puppy.

One of us will say, “Where’s Sampson?” and the other one will laugh and say, “Oh he put himself to bed again.” If he was a child he would be the perfect one, because he IS a perfect dog. 🙂

The 2 brown dawgs don’t put themselves to bed?

Chase watches out the window as you well know. Too cute.

Yes, Chase is adorable! How is he doing Margaret? I bet when he gives up his window seat he moves to the loveseat; that way he doesn’t have to go far when he hears the car. 🙂

He is doing good. We left him for 9 days with a dog sitter. It went OK. She did too much with him and he was lame. She felt really bad as we had warned her. We then brought him to my son’s for the weekend. Mistake as it was too soon. We are doing work at my mother’s place and even though he is a pain there, we are not leaving him again as he had alot of anziety at my son’s. This is not normal for him so we are going to take his cue that he does not want to be left.

Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that he is not up to par. 🙁 Maybe next time you need to go somewhere he can come to stay with me. :-0

It is smart of you not to leave him if you know he will be stressed. Give him lots of hugs and treats, he is just a sweetheart. 🙂

Samba waits by the door if I’m gone. The girls are crated when I’m not home. Noah will get on the window seat to watch for me. Sky will just sleep. Fudge will try to pick on Noah. Tsar will escape to the basement for some quiet napping and Morgan probably doesn’t even realize I’m gone.

Sue, it’s amazing. You know (and remember) exactly where everyone of them is. How do you keep track? Do you ever call them by the wrong name? LOL

There are days when I’m tired or distracted that I get mixed up, but they know who I’m talking to. They each have very distinctive personalities and I can usually guess how they’ll react to a situation.
